You plug it in to a USB port on your PC. It may need to be partitioned and formatted. For example, if it is formatted for a Mac, if will need to be repatirioned to work on a PC. It all depends on what kind of device you are trying to plug it in to.

SOURCE: PNY 8GB Flash Drive - PC Will not recognize

Have you installed a scanner/another external USB drive since first trying your Flash drive? If so, try unplugging that and re-insert your Flash drive. I had this problem and a friend suggested this and it worked!

Windows has built-in support for usb drives. If your flash drive isn't showing up under "Computer/My Computer" then there is a problem with the flash drive.

Can't add or delete files from PNY 8GB Flash Drive

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Try formatting the drive using the option available in Microsoft Windows (before that try back up the important data on that drive), if the problem still persists, try using Forced USB formatter Utility, do tell us with the results. Hoping to hear from you soon.

Concerned.

NEED DRIVER FOR PNY 8GB USB ATTACHE

If you're using the drive on a PC with Windows XP or Windows Vista, you don't need a driver - just plug it into the PC and Windows will recognize it and install USB drivers automatically.

How do i remove the write protection on pny 8GB usb flash drive

Here is the answer from PNY.
http://www2.pny.com/support/support_single_faq_viewer.aspx?ArticleID=1415&RootSectionID=1057

Be warned, this is a low level format tool from them. What ever is on your flash drive will be erased.

I went exploring on these drives and found that when they start acting like they are write protected, it means that the drive corrupted. The low level format tool, will completely reformat that drive, and hopefully correct the problem.

They say it happens (usually) if you removed the drive from a computer, without using the safe eject USB function.

If this is a new flash drive, take it back to where you got it, and ask for a replacement.
