SOURCE: the water will not drain on my first edition wma 10 hotpoint washing machine so does not spin either any clues to where the filter is???????

Most likely something stuck in the pump. Remove front panel and hose that goes into pump. usually you will see the object. if not remove pump and look inside.

SOURCE: Kenmore Series 70 Washing Machine - won't drain water

look at the bottom of the control panel on the end caps and back out the two screws then pull the control panel slightly forward and tilt it back then you should see gray wires either going in the body of the washer or to a switch on the left side un plug the harness and put a jumper wire across the connector going to the control panel then try spin

SOURCE: Hotpoint WMA35 - water will not empty and will not spin

Hi Debbie

Yes your machine will not spin if the water cannot drain... I do not have the machine in front of me but I would presume to think that you have a blockage in the water pump (or drain pump)

There is a normally a small pvc or plastic filter just before the pump and this would stop most big things entering the pump.. if not there could be a coin or button stuck in your pumps impeller.

Unfortunately if you are not technically inclined you will find it hard to access and open the pump otherwise just open the back plate on the machine (after removing the power socket from the wall) the pump is located at the bottom left and fairly easy to remove and open the plastic casing.

If this does not solve your problem please give more info........

SOURCE: Noise when draining

U will find the filter by removing the lower rear panel of the m/c.
Locate the large black hose at the right side, and remove clip securing hose. Get some thing ready to catch any water that will be in there, and remove hose.
There u will see the filter, remove and clean, refit filter and hose, making sure that u get the hose on properly, test for leaks before u put the panel back on.
U will find this much easier to do if u tilt the m/c forward, and support it with something underneath.. Check inside the pump as well.
Plz rate my solution.

Thanks.

My hotpoint wma50 smells really bad like there is dirty water stuck in it, but i dont know how to drain it

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

I would gently suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor/pump lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters and many machines will not even go to rinse or spin or release the door lock if there is any water still left inside.
Following are my complete and generic guidance notes for checking both the drain motor filter and the drain motor ;-0)
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT (alternatively use a wet vac as sensibly suggested by VinnyB1234!)
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!). These panels are either held on by (plasic) screws or will just pull off. Most filters are held in by a round cover/knob. Sometimes the filter will not come out with the cover and you will have to persuade it to come out to play.

It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. Using something suitable like a glove see if it is easy to briefly slow the motor down. If it is easy then the motor is malfunctioning.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Water not draining out and no fast spin

Check the drain hose for obstructions and the pump filter for blockage. the filter is under the tub with a turnscrew cap on it. Get a bucket ready to catch the water or **** it out with a shop vac using the drain hose. dcramer531_100.jpgdcramer531_101.jpg Here are a few pics to show what your looking for. Different models have them in different places.

Hi, i have a hotpoint aquarius 6kg wma50, my

Have you checked for blockage in the pump. Or the have been some problems with a ball that sits in the hose between pump and the drum. This can block the water. Check this berfore purchase new pump.

Hotpoint WMA50 won't final spin, and water stays in drum

Running with a restricted water supply probably took out the pump.
The stator requires a steady water supply for cooling and lubrication. Without this accelerated wear between the stator & magnetic poles occurs.
This additional clearance makes the magnetism insufficient to spun the impellor.

Will not run wash properly

The sensor you are referring to could posslbly be the water level switch which controlls the level of water, and also. is a factor as to wether the washer will spin or not, it also is part of the heater circuit, so it has numerous functions.
I t can be found at the top right front of the washer, and is about 3" in diameter, and has a thin plastic tube going to it.
it could be sticking, there is no sure fire way of testing it properly, but you could try tapping it and blowing down the tube, it may solve the prob.
Hope this helps.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Hotpoint WMA50p won't spin

Had same problem today with our machine. Brushes looked OK (although one appeared a little shorter than the other).
After removing and re-fitting the brushes, motor worked fine - suggesting that it was the brushes afterall.

Now looking for replacement brushes
