KPES100PM Espresso Machine - will not make espresso
Water will not come out of the espresso side of the machine and it comes out the back instead, back into the water container. The frother still steams and dispenses hot water.

While I am familiar with Kitchenaid espresso makers, I am not familiar with this problem. I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service, as you will have options under your Pro Line warranty. Their toll-free telephone number is:

Test each element for the correct resistance. Check the thermal fuses for a circuit, they are held onto the top of the boiler with a screw down bracket. Check for a circuit through the thermostat.
Check the 2 thermal fuses on the top of the boiler, if they are blown replace them and the thermostat. While you are at it replace the seals in the steam boiler, there are 5 of them in that boiler. If the fuses aren't blown check the element for continuity, sometimes one will fail.
You can use the machine forever like that, the black hose is a return hose, it's there so water can return to the tank without you hearing it dribbling into the tank. The clear hose is the pickup hose.
I keep hearing how this machine makes great crema but I'm about ready to toss my machine in the dump. It seems like the water comes out way too fast no matter how I work the grinds or tamp it. Can someone contact me about what might be wrong?
It sounds like the boiler element or maybe the thermostat. You have to take the top part of the machine off to get a good look at the water boiler. I have uploaded a not very good strip guide that I got from the internet, I have used it but it makes thing overly complicated to my mind, but here it is anyway. https://rapidshare.com/files/3189994876/KES100_strip_guide.zip
It has written instruction that relate to two diagrams in the PDF.
HELLO THERE:
PLEASE TRY THIS OK?
and dont forget to rate this for me it helps me out so i can help you all out more
best regards mike

I took out the water tank. Found a return discharge hole in the middle of the over hanging brewer body. It was in the middle of the deep indention.I placed a self adhesive folded plastic door weather stripping between the discharge hole and the brewer body. I used about 1 and 1/2 inches of the stripping. I made sure the fold was angled back away from the brewer. That seemed to force the water back into the water tank and my counter has stayed dry. I still get quite a bit of water under the catch tray, but if i clean it one every 20 pulls it has never over flowed.
by frother you mean it puts out steam ? if yes then I need to know how long you hold down the button and have you checked the hose in back to see if it has cracks or is kinked?
