Check the oil level,it has a low oil shutdown switch you could have a leak..old oil or oil with water in it will cause it too, change the oil and fill to line on stick.

Had a similar problem and it was a fuel issue. But, it could be electrical as well.
You would have to check fuel flow and for spark when it fails.
One possibility is the fuel filter is clogged (when was the last time it was changed?) and after it sits for awhile enough fuel gets through the filter and between what's on the output side of the filter and what is seeping through it runs for some time then quits.
It could also possibly be some crud in the float bowl of the carburetor that drifts around then clogs the float valve starving the engine of fuel then when it stops and the fuel fills the bowl again the crud drifts away from the valve to start the process over again.
Do a search for Kawasaki and your engine model and manual and you'll find a free downloadable manual which might be helpful.

I have 84 ramcharger started fine used for about 1/2 hour plowwing driveway shut off would not restart until cooled off 2nd time it has done this?

Sounds as if the ignition control module is getting hot and not allowing it to restart. Had the same issue with a Dodge b-250 van, except for the plowing part. It would run for about an hour and start sputtering and shut off. After it cooled down, van would start and run great for the same length of time and do it again.

John Deere LX188 17hp Kawasaki eng. Battery light constantly on; PTO for mower intermittent; will shut down after running for about an hour(battery discharge?). Suspect voltage regulator. Can't...

I have same problem with my lx188 battery light stays on and will run fine at idle, then I can mow for about 15mins then it powers down and run rough, and battery light dims down.
???? Is it the voltage regulator ?

Check the electronics in the distributor. Chevs are notorious for the electronics going bad inside of the distributor.
