Flip Video Not Being Reconized

Seems the battery has gone bad prematurely. Charging circuits have to be good since the unit works fine off the adapter plugged into the mains.

You need to first Charge your camcorder battery pack.(mine had to charge over night) the first time.  Plug the little arm that extends from the camera into a USB 2 port on your computer and make sure your computer stays ON during the charging, otherwise the camcorder will not charge.

A red light will come on during charge and goes off when charged. If it does not come while plugged in try a different USB port.  Screen should light up temporarily and Red light showing charging on front of camcorder.

 

IF YOU HAVE ALREADY DONE THE ABOVE, and are having the problem, pull the battery pack out and reseat it back in there again.  maybe connection not good.  OH, and I think mine had plastic covering the metal connections you may want to check that too -remove if so----- BUT the entire white plastic around the batteries STAYS IN PLACE do not remove that. 

 

If that still doesn't work I would try regular AA batteries in it if in fact you have The FLIP ULTRA HD it will take regular batteries too.    IF they work - then maybe you got a defective Rechargeable Battery pack and should contact Flip Video at   http://www.theflip.com/en-us/  

 

Same here. Wouldn't turn on but when I plugged it into PC for download it did light up saying, "connected." At first the computer did not recognize the device and asked me to re-plug it in. I pulled it out and lo and behold it turned on when I tried the power button. I then plugged it back into the PC and it is currently off loading my videos.

PROBLEM:
I just had this problem: I turned it on, started to record a video, but it hung up on frame #1, with the record red light stuck on. And I couldn't do any of the following: restart the recording, play already recorded videos, turn it off, connect to PC.
SOLUTION:
I removed the battery for about 30 seconds, then replaced it. my UltraHD flip works great now.

the flip say connected, but it don't change .what is wrong?

You may just have a simple problem with the device 'Drive Letter' allocation.

When you plug in the Flip into your USB your computer will assign the device a drive letter, if this letter is used already say for a network or mapped drive or other USB connection the Flip will not be recognized.

To check and see if that's the problem, plug in the Flip and go to your desktop
(right click) on My Computer / Manage / Disk Management

In that list see if the device is listed (you'll know by the name or storage size of the device) If it's there right click and 'change drive letter' to an unused drive letter.

Hopefully this will fix your problem.

Make sure that when you delete them on a mac, that while it is still plugged in you empty the trash, if you delete but do not empty the trash, when you remove it from the computer the used space will remain

Perform the suggested format, using the device as recognised on USB - don't worry about it not being the flip icon.
