I have a Sanyo Model DP42841 and I want to know how to stop the texting that comes when people are speaking?

If your source is the TV (RF input), then the Caption button on the original remote for the DP42841 will let you cycle through the available closed caption options. If you have a universal remote, you'll need to find a code that lets a Caption (or CC) button work with this TV. This is shown on page 8 of manual. ManualsLib has the manual here: https://www.manualslib.com/manual/148706/Sanyo-Dp42841.html .

If your source is any set-top box, you need to disable the captions on that source. This can depend on the system setup. I know that on one satellite dish receiver, the captions for a second TV on the system had to be enabled from the primary TV. (Then the captions showed on both TVs.) On a IPTV set-top box that I use, to disable the closed captions, I need to enter the Settings menu using a pass code from the provider. Then the setting is under Audio.

I hope this helps.

Is my Magnavox 1T HDD rECORDER COMPABILE WITH cOMCAST cable Box ?

If your Comcast box has a composite output, you'll be able to record SD shows. Use RCA composite video and audio cables between the box and the recorder. You'll have to set the box to the channel you want to record and leave it on. Then set the HDD/DVD unit to record from video input (L1 rear, L2 front) for the appropriate length of time. The manual explains this. The manual is available from Funai who built the unit with the Magnavox name: http://funaiport.com/upload/MAGNAVOX/Manual/MDR537H_EN_OM.pdf . See pages 19 and 42. If your TV and/or cable box only have a limited number of video inputs/outputs, you may need to daisy chain the composite video cables from the cable box to the DVD/HDD unit's video in. Then connect another composite cable from the DVD/HDD video out to the TV.

This Magnavox unit can only read analog (NTSC) cable video signals without a set top box. You will not be able to record a show and then watch another with the cable box.

I hope this helps.

(I know that my cable system's box has a composite video out. So it does work with most of the Comcast boxes. Many of the manuals are available here: http://customer.comcast.com/help-and-support/cable-tv/cable-box-user-manuals/ )

Need to set Sony remote to work with new t.v.

You need to set the code for the TV. Follow the instructions in the remote's users' manual on how to find it and set it. If you don't have the manual do an Internet search.

Good luck & please let me know how you do.

We did not receive a manual with our fridge and need to know what temperatures to set it at. It is a two door fridge with a bottom drawer freezer and digital settings. Can you helps? Also do you know how...

If you set both in the middle settings thats generally best. 1 is the on/off and compressor control to run the box temperature, the remaining will say colder /warmer, this can be misleading however as colder actually is colder freezer! not reefer box! so to max that one actually makes the reefer warmer and freezer colder!

I got this tv from a friend but it needs a "control box"

This model has all its connections through an "AV control center" connected by a cable to the main unit. This is the "box" you don't have.

You can get a copy of the manual here:

http://www.hitachionlinestore.com/manuals/32_42_50HDT50.pdf

You'll probably need to contact Hitachi at one of the numbers in the manual or through their website about getting one of these control centers. You could also try eBay and search online for possible sources. But the set isn't very useful without the box.

Can only record in black & white?

try changing your Display/ TV Connection setting under the setting menu - it may need to be set to "composite" (not RGB) if connected as displayed in the instruction manual - worked for me anyway (hope it does you).

Vcr timed recordings

I'd be pretty certain that every VCR made these days (and of the last 10-15+ years) can be set to do a timed recording. They can be set for a one time recording, weekly or daily record. Whether used with a cable/satellite box, or outside antenna, you must ensure proper hookup. I'm not real familiar with recent cable/sat receiver boxes, but older ones had to be set to the channel you wanted to record, as the VCR will only see that channel. On older cable (no cable box) & outdoor antenna systems, a VCR could tune in and record any channel, while you watched another one. Anyway, check the capability of the cable/sat box, and follow suggested hookup. You will likely need to set the box to the channel you want to record before you retire for the night.
