BCM-95 Icemaker Was working fine until we moved Water does not go in..we have changed the water value and it still does not work.

  • rddobbin Jul 01, 2009

Hi , I will try and explain better. We are in a motorhome and were in Edmonton AB and moved to Kitimat B.C. The ice maker was working great in Edmonton...when we got to Kitimat. it did not work...it would get cold but not water would go in the ice maker. We have NOT taken it out of the wall as of yet. We have replaced the water value but we think that there is no power to the water value ..what part would this be.?..we are being told here that parts for the U-line are hard to get. Is this true?

Fi you are using a percing valve you need to change it to a regular 1/2 by 1/4 compression vlve,, go to a half inch cold water line cut a tee in the line install a 1/2 out let pipe fot the ice maker, then install your valve run a 1/4in line to the ice maker, you shoud have no rblems,, it has to have volume with water supply in order to work, a percing valve is just that, it has a needle on the end you clamp it to the pi[e scre in the "t" handle till it perces the pipe, then back it off to open the water suply alot of times this is not enough to supply the water for the ice maker,,

o.k.,, then lets try this,, is it not making ice> or is the whole unit not working,, when you moved the unit did you stand it straight up and down or did you lay it down,, i am sorry that I didn't help the first time but if you read what you wrote it is kinda hard to understand the complete situation you have,,there is a small water outlet in the ice maker unit this could have had water in it when you turned it back on cosing the line to freeze up when turned back on,, if this is the case you can remove the water line on the back and blow air thru the line and get all excess water out before turing the unit on,, from wht you wrote if you can be more clear i can help you better

Icemaker not working

In most cases, this will be a water valve inlet issue. check the water valves operational value. you can use a ohm or volt meter to test the terminal clips on the valve assembly. if the meter picks up resistance and the valve isn't allowing proper water flow, replace the valve Assembly asap.

Ice maker does not work. Has worked fine until about a week ago

Mine has done this several times. There is a switch, usually in the tray above the ice container at the back. Move the switch to the OFF position for about 30 seconds. Now, turn the switch ON and push it hard in the ON position for about 30 seconds. This will 'jump start' your icemaker going again and you shouldn't have any more problems.

ICEMAKER

95% of the time the problem is with the water valve on the back of the fridge that supplies water to the IM. I would verify first if this is your problem. It is a part that often fails and is quite common occurance.

Water runs out of G.E. icemaker where water first goes to icemaker

The only reason for the loops is so that you can move the refrigerator out. The loops act like an accordion allowing the unit to move in and out without kinking the line.
You probably have some ice frozen in the icemaker where the water comes in. If this is the case, remove the icemaker and thaw it out and try again.
You need to make sure there is enough water getting to the fridge. Inadequate water fill can cause this to happen. I am curious as to why you changed the water line. Was it leaking or some other problem?
Make sure the water line is not kinking behind the fridge when you have it pushed into place.
If you need more help, please post the complete model number so I can look it up and I will see what I can do.
