Re: How do i reset a lewis clark luggage lock if i...
I did these:
1) Apply continuous pressure on the tip of the long cable as if you were trying to unlock it. Do it softly, pain would block your sensitivity.
2) Turn the first dial (the closest to the long cable) slowly, as many times as you need, until you feel there is one number where the tip feels slightly (hardly noticeable) loose. Stop there.
3) Do the same for the second dial.
4) For the third dial press the tip of the short cable instead, and do the same as in step 2.
5) Very likely it will open, but if it did not, leave the dials in the position you found and start again. If at least one of your dials is correct, detecting differences will be easier.
I wasted hours of my life and developed several blisters going from 000 to 999 maybe 5 times before I saw this in a last ditch search while holding cable cutters. Took me less than 5 mins. Thank you! Although I did the first then the third then had to do the middle dial digit by digit.I wasted hours of my life and developed several blisters going from 000 to 999 maybe 5 times before I saw this in a last ditch search while holding cable cutters. resetting the combination is only practical if the suitcase is open as the reset tab is located inside where it cannot be tampered with when locked.

Luggage manufacturer Samsonite offers a variety of business, personal, travel products and accessories. Many Samsonite pieces such as attaches and other bags include a three-digit, built-in combination lock. When purchased, the locks are set on a factory default combination that you can change as often as you wish.
STEP 1
Turn the number dials to the previously set combination, or to "0-0-0", the factory default combination for Samsonite luggage.
STEP 2
Locate the reset button, usually placed to the side of the combination dials.
STEP 3
Press the reset button and hold it while rotating the number dials to the desired combination. Set this to a sequence easy for you to remember but hard for others to figure out.
STEP 4
Release the reset button after you set the numbers to the new combination.
STEP 5
Test the combination by turning the dials to the new code to open the lock. If the combination does not open the lock, repeat Steps 1 through 4 and test the lock again. If you still can't open the lock, contact Samsonite Customer Service at 800-765-2247.

Repeat Step 2 with the middle dial, and then the farthest dial. Leave the dial set when you find the click, moving onto the next dial. The combination will reveal itself, letting you pull the U-ring away from the body of the lock.

Most combination luggage locks can be reset when they are open. The combination wheels can't be turned unless the lock is being reset. So either the wheels show the correct combination, or you will be able to turn them to a new combination. The lock that is "locked outside the hole" was either not relocked after inspection or it's in reset mode.
