SOURCE: Carrier air handler tonnage?

That is a fairly large difference. It is usually ok to have the inside evap. coil and blower up to 1 ton larger than the outside condenser. That will make the unit slightly more efficient as well as less likely to freeze up on low airflow situations. It is not recommended to install a new condenser on an old evap coil. There has been a lot of changes to the design of the coils in the last little while. For example a 10 year old 2 ton coil may only have 3 cubic feet of volume but a new 2 ton coil may have 4 cubit feet of volume.

There are many factors that may have infulenced the decision on what size condenser to install. Many of which can only be done by visiting the home and doing alot of work, checking the duct sizing bioth supply and return, inspecting the insulation and windows of the home etc. etc. Most of the time that never gets done. You can blame the contractor for not doing a complete check, but at the same time you can blame the customer because many contractors that are that good loose the job to a cheaper bid that did not no any of the research. It is a catch 22 for everyone involved.

There is ALOT more to sizing equipment that many people think, sadly that also includes many HVAC contractors. Way too many people use "rule of thumbs" or flat out "guess".

Sorry for the rant but your queston can only be answered by a good well educated HVAC contractor visiting your home. That type of a contractor is getting hard to find these days in such a price competetive world.

How can resolved PJ error in daikin vrv 2

PJ is an error that has to do with the outdoor unit not matching the indoor unit. This means the outdoor board thinks it's a 2 ton unit and the indoor thinks it's a 1 ton unit. (Just throwing those numbers in)...but, the indoor is not matching the outdoor. You need to read the manual and go through the setup process.

Comfortmaker 10 HVAC output size?

Comfortmaker 10 means simply it is a 10 SEER system. Unable to determine the OUTPUT size without the Model Number. Go to the Outdoor Unit Nameplate and locate the Model No. Here is an easy way to determine the "SIZE" of the "Comfortmaker 10 HVAC" Systems:

Model No.: OUTPUT Size (Nominal Tons of A/C):

NAC015 1.5 Ton Unit

NAC024 2.0 Ton Unit

NAC030 2,5 Ton Unit

NAC036 3.0 Ton Unit

NAC042 3.5 Ton Unit

NAC048 4.0 Ton Unit

I have a contractor that wants to install a 36000btu outdoor unit(model # mh080fxca4a) and two indoor 18000btu indoor units(model #mh052fnca). What would be the output of the outdoor unit? The contractor...

Yes it rated for a maximum out put of 36,000 btu (3 ton) with the right indoor fan coil units which based on the model numbers should give the 36,000 btu's combined when both fan coil units are on, otherwise 18,000 btu's (1.5 ton)per fan coil.

I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT MY TONNAGE IS.

Look for your model number on your condensor, outdoor unit. Your tonnage will be towards the end of it and divisable by 6. I.E. 36=3tons or 42=3.5tons. Ac units are messured by the half ton. If you have a split system I.E. heater inside and ac outside your system will be 1 - 5 tons. If this doesn't help post your model and serial number. I can then give you tonnage, age, so forth.

Trying to find the tonnage of my goodman a/c model number aruf486016ba

Does this happen to be the number on the indoor blower coil. The 4860 would either be set up to handle either 4 or 5 tons. If this is so, you need to look on the outdoor condenser to see whether a 4 or 5 ton condenser was coupled to the unit.

Can you replace older inside unit with newer one and use older condensing unit?

Hi, yes you can. The indoor unit has to match the outdoor as both coils have to be the same tonnage. You can also replace the outdoor unit with a new one to if it fails.By the 24 you have in the number you have shown me, you have a 2 ton unit, so will need a 2-ton indoor unit. You can't do this your self as you have freon lines that connect the two, but it would not take long to change it out. I do this on a day to day basis.Best of Luck,

How do i find coil size for a armstrong central air unit

Are you asking what indoor coil size you need to match your outdoor unit? If so the model number of the outdoor unit will have a number divisible by 12. example an 036 is a 3Ton a-c an o42 is a 3 1/2 Ton. Probably the numbers right after UAMB.

Btu's

That air handler can accamodate different size coils. Look for the coil model number. Also you can look at the outdoor unit model number they should be matched up. There is generally a set of 2-3 numbers in the model numbers that will tell you. xxx036xxx is 36,000 btu. tonnage is 12,000 btu per ton so 36,000 btu's would be 3 tons. xxx040xxx= 40,000btu's or 3.5 tons etc.
