I have a used 9.25i treadmill that we just bought - it is probably about 10 years old and was just walked on per the seller. After a couple of runs, we started noticing a front end clunking sound that increases in frequency and noise. It gives no error message and seems to run fine but is very noisy.

The problem is the rear roller has a bad bearing and needs to be replaced

If everything still works but no belt movement, you motor controller is more than likely shot. If replacing you want to also pay attention to the deck and belt. Sence it sut down while running, it sound it an over heating problem which is usually caused from too much friction between the walking belt and the deck(the board under it) May require lube or may need replacing.

Error 1 - Start up error. This is caused because the belt was commanded to move and the opto (speed sensor on the motor) has not seen any movement or the belts movement was interrupted prior to it reaching its commanded speed. To fix Verify opto operation in Diagnostics, Motor Test
Mode, Section 2. Verify DC voltage at connector P6 pins 1 and 2. Verify that LED 4 on the Motor Controller flashes as the motor moves. Let me know if you need any more help. Fitness Fix-It

Your problem might be that a magnet has fallen out of place. Here's an illustrated guide that should make fixing it easy: http://fixmytreadmill.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-to-fix-treadmill-e1-error.html
Good luck.
