Oven turns off if too hot

I have a st george double wall oven. when using the higher temperatures, say 220c and upwards the oven will suddenly shut down. I lose all digital displays and oven cannot be turned back on until it has cooled down sufficiently. usually about 20 minutes. digital panel will not display until this happens and oven appears to reset itself with time reverting to 0.00. the oven is about 12 years old and has only begun to do this in the past 12 months and only at the higher temps.

There is a temperature switch that shuts the power down if the temperature goes too high. This is to prevent a fire if your thermostat sticks on. Sometimes the switch will become weak and open the circuit at too low of a temperature. Replacing the switch should solve your problem.

If you need more assistance, post a comment with the model and s/n of your stove.

Thanks,

Tim

Turn off the timer on an old imperial st george

I have this exact same oven and this "feature" annoys me no end. To turn it off ... turn the clock dial to PAST the time that the timer dial shows. EG: If your timer dial is showing 6, turn the clock dial so that it rolls past 6 o'clock. This will pop out the timer dial and thus turn off the timer, allowing you to use the oven normally.

To stop accidentally pushing/turning that timer dial, I removed the knobs. Good luck.

I have a wall oven, a St George single oven. The

Depending on model-
Put the door at an opening of about 100mm. You should feel an indent for thecorect position.
You will probably need 2 people, 1 each side,
Slide the door upward at an angle same as hinge, It will slide off the hinge.

If the hinge is broken, and they usually break inside the wall of the oven, it will be very difficult to slide it off the broken hinge.
Hinges are available from EDIS SPARES 1800 125 039

Ovens do not come up to set temperature

most common issue wsith these gas wall ovens is faulty ignitors, i would reccomnd replaing the ignitor(s). that being said i wouuld also reccomned a servicer with experience on this model for they can be a more tricky then ohter ranges out there, and the possiblity of "shorting out" adddiont al parts is higher on this model! and no one is currently producing a double self cleaning, full sized gas wall oven, so id hate to see you ruin this one!!!
