I have A LCD Honeywell thermostat that has a display that is blank. also it is not sending anything to my furnace. there for my main level in my house is very cold. I have the same one up stairs and it is...

Replace the batteries first. Some cheap thermostats require the batteries to function. I don't know of a honeywell model that does though. Its cheap, so do that first.

If still nothing comes on and you still have a blank display with new batteries, I'd say probably the thermostat is defective. Even if the furnace is broken, new batteries SHOULD bring up the display.

  • Check any batteries and replace if needed. Ensure that you use only AA alkaline, nonrechargeable batteries.
  • 2 Check for oxidation buildup on battery contacts. Use electrical contact cleaner and carefully clean the battery contacts of any oxidation buildup.
  • 3 Reset the system switch.

Readings disappear on thermostat for awhile then come back

    Hi Linda,

There are a few things that cause this:

    1. When the heat is starting, it will sometimes go blank for a few minutes and then resume.
    2. Most have batteries, replace them with fresh new ones, if the electricity goes out while you are away, the batteries will keep the settings.
    3. Have someone check the house when it is extremely cold or hire a service to monitor. Your alarm company can usually add temperature sensors to your home, it will add a little safety net for you.
Hope this was helpful, please rate my answer.
    Thanks,

Chronotherm III Thermostat Completely Blank Screen, No Heat

One of two things either the disply has gone out which is likely as it is a common failure for that thermostat or your heating unit is not sending control power. the older chronotherms were system (24volt ac) powered the new hardware/box store units are battery powered. Either way display should not be blank with fresh batteries. to get heat on remove the thermostat jumper or twist together the wire from the R terminal with the wire from the W terminal. note the color of each wire for later reference, heat up house disconnect wires from each other and go purchase a new thermostat
