Dewalt DW423 speed mechanism not working, how do I wire around it?

Speed adjust module appears to be not working. How do I wire around it, and just operate the sander at full speed?

SOURCE: Hand sander stops spinning once placed on item to be sanded

This sander has a brake pad that is supposed to stop the rotation when the sander is not actually in use. It sounds like it's malfunctioning.
The only other thing I can think could be a cause of what you describe is an improperly assembled sanding base. Have you changed out the base, and if so, were you sure to properly align the replaced base on the machine before you tightened the allen screw?
If you're not comfortable disassembling a tool that is still under warranty ( I think it's two years for that one), I would recommend finding a Dewalt service center and taking it in for a factory service call.

SOURCE: need a wiring diagram for a delta drum sander

Here's a link to the online manual.
As far as that diagram....didn't you label the wires?
Take a look here, it may help you. circuit wiring , especially the paragraph that begins: "Knowing that electrically common points have zero voltage drop between them is a valuable troubleshooting principle." Also read about resistors. That speed control knob is one.
Hope that helps...

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread. If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take a moment to kindly rate this post....thanks!

SOURCE: Sander will operate only at a very low level of power.

It is either a bearing or bearings that are failing and causing the sander to slow down or the variable speed switch is failing.

My Dewalt DWD460 slows down when I depress the trigger all the way. Why? A bad switch or Module??

If the speed control is the trigger, it is basically pushing the slider of a potentiometer up and down the track varying the control voltage to the speed control module.
Basically it is no different in principle to an old fashioned rotary or in-line volume control and just like a volume control the track can become dirty or wear out in places producing unpredictable and erratic operation.

Sometimes a thorough soaking with switch cleaner will restore the function.

I am looking for a ECU pinout or a Diagram. I am throwing a "turbine overspeed" code (P0716) on a non turbo car. Also P0721 and P0705 On second ECU with the same issue.

Hello. You are confusing the turbine over speed control sensor module of the car's transmission, with a turbo charger- a forced air induction device, of a car's engine. One has nothing to do with the other.

The turbine over-speed control module is basically a sensor that reads the speed of the transmission's input shaft (torque converter) in relation to the speed of the output shaft- transmission speed ratio/gear.

Simply put- when the P0716 error code displays, it means that the ECM has detected the value(s) of the input sensor as being out of range, like being too high or too low; or that there is some bad wiring issue in the circuit.

When this happens, the subsequent P0721 output speed sensor and P0705 transmission range sensor circuit malfunction error codes appear- and does not necessarily mean that the entire transmission components (electronic modules, sensors, or mechanical parts) have malfunctioned leading to a major transmission overhaul.

It is most likely that the Input Turbine Speed sensor needs to be replaced. Take the car to a well qualified SAE certified transmission specialist who has precise diagnostic and transmission control readers and are able to reset the computerized transmission modules once the repair is made.

Dewalt demo hammer, when switched on the motor speed surges up and down constantly. What is wrong?

Check the brushes first. If they are worn or sticking they could cause this.

If the brushes are fine and not worn down then it is most likely the electronics/ variable speed module.

I bought a new dewalt hammer drill and i love it but when you use the number 1 speed it just clicks and smells hot once and a while it will work and when it works it works good its just getting it to work....

Hello. In the gear mechanism they use planetary gear set to get the torque they need to operate this hammer drill. What has happen is the gears are made of heavy duty type of PVC. Why, some how it strip off the teeth on some these gears and the only thing is work is electric motor moving broken gear around in that planetary gear housing.

Take it back where you bought this Dewalt drill and ask for a replacement. GB...stewbison

My york pacer 2750 will not change speed, speed adjust knob work but motor will not increase speed.

Unplug unit pull your motor shroud off then inspect the motor pulley assembly plug in your unit while you rotate your speed handle you should be able to see the mechanical adjusting working if not then that mechanism needs repairing

Intermittent speeds on dewalt 928 in both high and low ranges. Corrects sometimes with shaking the driver or knocking it on something. Has New battery. Replaced the brushes set, but that didn't seem to do...

It may be the trigger speed-control module, a loose wire connection, a bad reversing switch, or the battery connections within the tool. If you can remove a cover so that the tool can still run, tap and move wires with a wooden or plastic stick carefully. Don't use metal as a short circuit can cause a large amount of current to flow and possibly damage the new battery. Good luck!

I have a dewalt 2 1/4 hp type 1 var speed soft start the magnetic ring broke had it replaced by a dealer still doesnt work i replaced the speed module still nothing sometimes it wants to run it might...

could be brushes stuck, the tubes might have been smashed a little not allowing them to contact the armature or other major electrical problems, Check for continuity thru the brush tubes and see what you get.

12v dewalt slow speed?

Problems could include cold battery, worn out battery, or something has gotten into the mechanism such as sawdust. You also might check contacts to be sure they are clean and bright.
