First, does it say "Kinetic" on the face of the watch? If not, it is not a Seiko Kinetic. (You did not mention if it was a Kinetic or not.)

Second, the Serial number is not like any Seiko Kinetic I know, which is 2 4 digit numbers.

Third: The number you gave itself may indicate the type of button battery you need.

As you have had the watch for "a number of years", have you had it serviced? Sieko recommend servicing every 2-3 years.

If could be that cleaning and adjustment are needed to put it back in good order.

(I don't know the details of your watch but on the assumption that it has a balance wheel, since this is a rapidly moving part, it can suffer wear and need periodic adjustment.)

Hello Bob, Mike D75 here, The day of the week can be changed by pulling out the stem to set, every second time to 12"Oclock--2 O'Clock will cause the day to change.
