Occasionally the speakers on tv will start making a fuzzy crackling sound
SOURCE: sound jumps from speaker to speaker, then off,
The speakers , because of their way of functioning, require a large amount of current. That current, if the wire connectors or the solderings are imperfect, can cause a lot of heating and deformation in the metal parts of the connectors, breaking the contact and generating static as they move along in there.
The only way you can fix your problem is to open the tv, clean all the contacts with wire wool and an abrasive brush then redo all the solderings. Since you clearly stated that you won't do it then call someone who will, for a fee.
Is it on all audio sources or only certain ones? Have you swapped the speakers Left-to-Right to isolate the speaker from the signal chain as a cause?
If it's only an analog source doing it I would suspect a bad audio cable or a switch somewhere in the signal path. Typically, it might be a switch you
rarely use, like a Tape Monitor. It's wise to occasionally (with power OFF) operate all manual controls throughput their ranges a number of times to wipe oxides from their contacts.
