Re the Ripping problem, for Win7:

To rip music from an audio CD

  1. Click the Start button ripping cds and faulty webcam - 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33_818.jpg, click All Programs, and then click Windows Media Center.
  2. If Media Center is not in full-screen mode, click the Maximize button in the upper-right corner of the window.
  3. Insert an audio CD into the CD-ROM drive on your computer. The CD will start playing automatically.
  4. On the Now Playing screen, click Rip CD. (If you navigated away from the Now Playing screen, you can always return there from the Windows Media Center start screen by scrolling to Music, clicking Music library, clicking Albums, and then clicking the CD you inserted.)
  5. If this is the first time you've ripped a CD, follow the instructions on the CD Ripping Options screen. (You won't see this screen the next time you rip a CD.)
  6. In the Rip CD dialog box, click Yes to rip the tracks to your computer. The ripped music files are automatically added to your Music library.
Re the webcam problem, would need more info. Do you know if the laptop has webcam software installed at all?

Try physically removing the player and fire up the laptop. Power down the laptop, replace the player and power back up. If that doesn't help, see if BIOS recognizes it.
If that doesn't work, get back to me.

SOURCE: Gateway 450rog Audio problem

I have just re-imaged a Gateway 450 ROG for a friend of mine on the website the audio driver is found (http://support.gateway.com/support/drivers/search.asp?st=pn&param=3501353) under the heading Sound Downloads. This unzips a list of files C:\cabs\9520522
Readme.txt
stac97(security catalog)
stac97(control panel extension)
stac97 (setup information)
stac97(system file)
1. From the Start menu, click Control Panel.
2. In Control Panel, click Performance and Maintenance.
3. In Performance and Maintenance, click the System icon.
4. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
5. In Device Manager, click the plus sign (+) next to Other Devices, and then double-click Multimedia Audio Controller.
6. In the Multimedia Audio Controller Properties dialog box, click the Driver tab, and then click Update Driver.
7. In the Hardware Update Wizard dialog box, click Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and then click Next.
8. In the next dialog box, click Search for the best driver in these locations, and then click Include this location in the search.
9. In the text box, type: C:\CABS\9520522. Click Next.
10. Click Finish.
Now once installed sound only comes from using the headphone jack, the external speakers get a little sound if the volume is turned up to maximum.

Hope this helps

SOURCE: ''Camera not Found!'' Error for Acer Crystal Eye Webcam.

If no devices for the webcam are showing in device manager, and you can't trigger it to be detected, the camera hardware may be dead. One good way to test this would be to back up all your important files to an external hard drive (or your d: partition-acerdata) and perform an acer factory restore by pressing alt+F10 at startup time. Alternately, you could use your discs that came with the laptop, or make a set using the e-recovery management console. The d: partition is not affected by a factory restore. This will tell you if the camera is dead. If it still won't respond after a factory restore, contact acer for warranty service. Acer will likely insist you do the system restore first though.

Hope this helps!

Anyone on here have any experience with the nova fidelity X12 cd ripper and network media server and player? It’s working but when ripping cds it comes up with read errors however plays cds no bother,...

I guess you meant ripping store bought CDDA, ;discs. right>?
compact disk-Digital Audio, disks as see in WALFart. music department. right?
first off CD players can skip error playing CDDA will try to play even with scratches, and the data is repeated if you read the spec, on CDDA, but a scratch that is long in the direction of the spin
that will be BAD DATA! and if you rip a CD , it will not like scratches at all. this is COMMON.
Hint bad disks don't rip.

you have 5 choices. (I think I got them all)
A new CDDA disk, with no scratches., duh factor 1:
B: have the disk professional polished, (yes this is a service)
C: try a new CD DISK DRIVE, in your PC, some work better with scratches, or buy a portable CD/DVD USB player it may work better.

D: try a 2nd PC for same reasons of C:

E: try other ripping APPS< some may work better with scratched CDs./? many are free, costs zero to try.

Lenovo Touch pad Stopped working

If you're positive you didn't unplug or rip anything while installing new USB ports, trying checking/updating or rolling back the drivers for the touch pad. Installing new USB ports could have mis-configured something and disabled or modified your drivers for the touch pad.

My Hitachi dmp860 player displays the error message "NO AUTHORITY" when trying to play wma files that I originally ripped from my own cds. Why is this and what can I do about it?

When you ripped them, you probably used Windows Media Player which will add copy protection by default if you don't set otherwise.

Either

- Re-rip as MP3
- Re-rip with copy protection off

It is easier to re-rip than to try to remove copy protection.

I have several mp3 audio files I ripped from CDs where my player does not recognize the Album or Artist. I have the files on my hard drive, when I copy to my player, it puts them into an "Unknown" folder....

Hello,

When the info is missing, check the settings in the RIP function of Windows Media Player.
1. During ripping there should be an internet connection.
2. For WMP11 the setting for retreiving media info from the internet should be selected under RIP > More Options... > Privacy:

52adbf1.jpg
For more info about getting the matching media info, look under RIP > Help with Ripping.
Getting the information directly, when ripping a new CD or
afterwards when the album is already in mp3 format.

If this was helpful I'd appreciate your reply.
