We can hear the dvd but screen is black and says no signal

Consult the owner manual for the player (and or try it on another set) as many players have settings that can cause B&W or a single color display for the image.

THE COMBO WHEN YOU HIT PLAY SHOULD BE AUTOMATIC AND DISPLAY PICTURE AND SOUND ON THE SCREEN---THIS IS LISTED AS A TV-VCR COMBO SO IF dvd hooked to one of the rear inputs (some are also on front on some models) in the menu you select that input and should see the picture and hear the sound from the DVD.

check the video format

Check the av channel on the tv,the av is normaly av2,if it say`s any different then press the av button on the tv r/c until it plays in colour

If you are running some kind of sky tv for your stations it is your scart lead fault re-fit /replace
if not some times an dvd player if attached can interfare with the signal geting through
failling all that re-set your tv and re-do serach for channels again But it dose not sound like a tv fault but a signal fault.

You may have to select a different input on the tv. iIs there an "input" put on the tv remote? If not, try channel down.

check your video input cord could be a dfective cord are you using different audio cords or using hdmi?

did you check to see if the av conponent was on tv/hdtv?

Try turning on component (cable) for the V2 input  on your TV

Its a black and white movie.
