White housing cracked on a part that goes into a spot labeled r165. What is this part? Is it okay that the white housing around it is cracked? Amp plays fine. What causes this?

SOURCE: My JL audio 1000/1 amp does not work

Best bet is to send it back to JL, they do not sell the PCB with all of the components loaded on it. Most likely the transistors in the power supply have fried. Open it up and see if you can find any physical damage. Google the part numbers of the bad parts, and you should be able to fix it relatively easily. www.digikey.com is a great place for parts. Read this for more testing procedure: http://www.bcae1.com/ampfail.htm The whole site is wonderful, really.

SOURCE: jl audio 250/1 thermal light

i was having issues with this amp as well, the thermal light was flashing every couple seconds. i checked all the connections and i discovered that when i pulled the power wire out the thermal light was still flashing, which tells me that there was no power from the power wire, but it was getting power from the remote wire. i know this because it would stop flashing when i removed the remote wire. but wouldnt start when i didnt connect the remote wire but connected the power wire. so with the power meter i checked the fuse and it was a little loose so i screwed it back in and the amp turned right on.
to make a long story short, a flashing thermal light is a power supply issue.

What would be the right wiring on a cvr 12 to 4 ohms i am running a hifonics 2000 class D thanx for the help

Assuming that you have a 4 Ohm Dual Voice Coil (DVC) sub, you should wire it in parallel for more output. Solid red connects to red with white dot, and goes from solid red to amp positive (+). Solid black connects to black with white dot, and goes from white dot to amp negative (-). For a good diagram, go to this link: http://kicker.com/dvc_wiring

The element in my electric oven is cracked in two spots and there are white spots under the broken piece. Can you tell me why the element cracked and what the white spots are, my landlord said i put...

Hi.
The elementy has failed simply because they do, there is no particular reason for this.
The cracking is due to the fact that the insulation has broken down at those points, and the white spots are the insulating medium..
It is certainley not due to anything that you have done, they just fail, end of story.
So your landlord is responsible for getting it sorted.
Good luck.

I took the cord off of a bosch 11241evs hammer drill and can remember which order to reconnect the the wires

standard coloring on the cord will be black, white, and green. green is the ground and goes into the jumper/connector that is on the side of the speed control module. in the other side of this jumper is the (probably green) wire that goes up inside the motor housing and is grounded to the gear housing.

the black and white wires, respectively, go into the other two spots on the bottom of the speed control. shouldn't matter which one goes in which, i usually do black on left and white on right if there is no specification.

I have an outside spot light with a motion detector controlled by an inside switch. I want to change outside fixture & install dimmer switch in place of wall switch. I removed outside fixture. There...

First, let me say that if you're not entirely comfortable doing high voltage electrical work, you might want to call an electrician. It's not impossible for you to get hurt or killed or burn down your house. At least be sure to turn of the circuit breaker while you're working on it.

The blacks and whites twisted together are passing through power to other parts of your premises and are always on, so be sure to keep them twisted together. The red is the one that will take power from your light switch and send it to your light fixture.

At the fixture, connect the white to white and red to black, the same as before. At the light switch, connect the black to one side of the switch and the red to the other. When you turn on the switch, it will permit power from the black to travel down the red to the fixture, and from the fixture, the circuit will be completed through the white.

Good luck!

500/1 sub amp stopped working, burnt rubber smell

It sounds like the power supply failed. Generally when the supply fails in that amp, you have to replace all 8 of the power supply FETs and all 8 of the 47 ohm surface mount resistors. Many times, the supply fails because one or two of the output transistors have failed.

If you want to have JL repair it, you MUST go through an authorized JL dealer.

If you have a good local repair shop, they should be able to repair it.

Let me know if you have any other questions.
