Hi,i recently bought a samsung tocco on orange from a pawn brokers but i then took it to a stall who unlocks phones for all networks as i wanted it open on o2 as that was my exsisting number,he then unlocked it and was then open for all networks but informed me that there was a full signal on the phone but also had a symbol to the right of signal bar with a phone with a line through it and he told me the phone had been barred indicating that the phone was either stolen or had been an insurance job, when i went back to pawn shop where i purchased it they insisted the phone was fine and that the guy who unlocked the phone had caused the problem, they then both blamed each other and ive got nowhere, until i can prove to the shop where purchased that they sold me either a stolen phone or had been an insurance claim im screwed and lost £100,could do with a proffesional opinion so i can move forward and put someone in the wrong, and would you say this was a barred phone or could the guy who unlocked it have barred it by doing it wrong, would appreciate a prompt reply???,many thanks MIKE...
The problem here is that the guy in the pawn shop probably didnt check the phone. I would blame the guy who sold it to the pawn shop guy, but ultimately i would say pawn shop guy is in the wrong for selling faulty goods. Unfortunately, due to the methodology involved in unlocking the phone, he is no longer liable for any problems with it.
I'm sorry, the only thing you can legitimately do is sell it for spare parts. Alternatively, you can take it to another dodgy phone shop, and ask them to reinstall its flash firmware, but it might not be possible for this phone.

Hi
what has happened is that the original owner has reported it to O2 and they have applied an IMEI bar to the handset that will be circulated to all uk networks. So unfortunately the phone is now useless! Dont bother spending money trying to unlock as you would be wasting your money once all the networks know. It probably worked for a while because the owner didnt report it straight away. Shame, not a bad phone!
