SOURCE: Hi, I bought a Seagate

Did you reformat the FreeAgent drive when you backed up the Mac? If you use Time Machine or other backup software for the Mac, you had to reformat the drive. If you want the PC to read the disc, it must be formatted in a FAT32 or NTFS file system. The Mac OS formats discs in the HFS+ (extended hard drive format) system.

Unfortunately, if you reformat the disc to a Windows compatible format, you will lose your current backup. The drive will be as a large media transfer disc but not for the backup images. This site, http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~pcarbo/macnexstar.html , has information on splitting the hard drive into two partitions, one HFS+ and one FAT32. Then you could have your backup on one part of the GoFlex and still transfer files from the Mac to the PC and vice versa.

I hope this helps.

SOURCE: I have a seagate goflex

I have the exact same drive. If off-the-shelf cables are not working (which is odd) I would suggest buying a USB 3.0 extender. This will extend it about 3 feet. You can purchase them for <$5 online! Let me know if this helped out any.

SOURCE: seagate freeagent goflex 750 put some movies onto

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. Can you pleae provide the make and model of the blueray device so that we can check if the file format of the blueray device is NTFS or FAT32. By default external hard drive is set to NTFS. A good example of this one is a PS3. Ps3 can only detect a hard drive that is a Fat32 fotmat so incase you connect a NTFS hard drive it wont detect it.
Thanks

Goflex home. How do I restore my original Ip Address

http://www.seagate.com/docs/pdf/en-US/whitepaper/ug-goflex-home-us.pdf

That is the user guide - if you can log into the device, then you can go into the settings and change the IP. Best to do so from Windows, I can't do much from Mac.

Not detecting devices

Check the back of your Sharp TV for the HDMI input. These will be long, thin rectangular jacks labeled "HDMI." Most Sharp TVs will include another label on those jacks with an input number ("Input 5," "Input 6" or the like). Remember that number. It will have a bearing when you turn on the TV.

    • 2
Connect one end of an HDMI cable to the input jack on the Sharp TV and the other end to a compatible component such as an HD DVR from your cable/satellite company or a Blu-Ray disc player. The TV won't broadcast in HD if you can't connect these devices with an HDMI cable (though it will still broadcast in standard definition using RCA cables or S-video cables).

Turn on the TV and the requisite component (Blu-Ray, DVR).

    • 4
Press the "Input" button on your remote. A list of signal sources will appear on your screen ("Input 1," Input 2," etc.). Use the cursor to maneuver down to the input number corresponding to the HDMI outlet you just hooked up and press the "Input" button again.

    • 5
Press the "Menu" button and maneuver the cursor to select "Option." Go to "HDMI Setup" and press "Enter." Move the cursor up or down to the desired item and hit "Enter" again. Then move the cursor from side-to-side to select the proper setting. Hit "Enable" to allow the Sharp TV to automatically recognize the HDMI signal and "Digital" to get the proper audio signal from the HDMI cable. Then hit "Enter" again.

    • 6
Exit the menu and watch TV as normal.

How connect ext mass storage Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Net to LAN through router by TCP/IP

Here is the link to the pdf for your Go flex.
http://www.seagate.com/files/staticfiles/support/docs/goflex/goflex-net-user-guide-en-us.pdf

This is an excerpt from the file concerning NOT using the pogoplug...

Accessing GoFlex Net Without Using the Pogoplug Service (Windows)
You can access the drives connected to GoFlex Net without using the Pogoplug Web
interface. Follow these steps to set up local network access.
1. On the Windows taskbar, click Start > Network or right-click My Network Places >
Explore.
An Explorer window opens showing all computers on your network.
2. Locate and then double-click the computer name associated with GoFlex Net.
NOTE: Your GoFlex Net name starts with the letters "FADS" followed by the last six
alphanumeric characters of its MAC address. This 12 digit address, preceded by "MAC:",
is printed on the label on the bottom of GoFlex Net.
You can now access each drive connected to GoFlex Net. Access is regulated by the file
sharing permissions you set using the Pogoplug service.

Hope this helps...

How to watch movie direct from my seagate portable hard drive.

You need to connect the computer to the tv and the seagate to the computer.

You will need to connect the computer and tv by using a cable and connect them. Your TV has ports such as VGA, S-Video or HDMI on it to allow it to receive a signal from some external device. Your computer needs to have the same type of port or you will need something (some type of adapter) to make the tv and computer think they have the same type of connecting ports. Most laptops have an extra port for displaying on an external device such as a tv. Most desktops don't have an extra port so you will need to purchase a video (graphics) card that has the ports on it and install it into one of the desktop's pci slots.

Once you have the ports on both devices (tv and computer) then connect them with a cable. Then take the tv's remote and press Select Input so you can tell the tv where to receive the signal from (PC, VGA, S-Video, HDMI). Reboot the computer and the image should appear on the tv.

On laptops The video will show on most systems when you reboot without you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN (Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correct key for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key will normally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

I am looking for a manual for FreeAgent GoFlex Desk USB 3.0. I have no idea how it works. It doesn't need fixing, I need to know how to do various tasks.
