Reattaching the blades

The blade (the small one with several holes) gets attached to the slide spring (the thin pieces of metal with a small gap between them), through the two diamond shaped holes, with tension on the slide spring keeping the blade in position. The blade guide, the large plate with only two holes, gets mounted with the two screws. The rough surfaces of both blade and blade guide face each other.
The two screws of the blade guide are tightened completely. Adjust the tension between the blade and the blade guide with the large plastic screw on the side of the trimmer (this allows the blade to move rapidly from side to side). I plug it in at this time and when the cutting blade begins to move the clipper makes much louder noise. This is normal but it sounds like it is broken, it isn't. Adjust the cutter slightly past movement. You don't want it to bounce on the guide.

Blades fell off oster dog clippers but can't fit them back on. Please help !!

With the hinge of the clipper facing you:
Make sure hinge is open, if it is not, prize it open with a flat head screwdriver.
Slide the blade on with the blade siz/number faceing you.
Snap shut.
If this fails, try again, but push the latch in as you snap them shut.
If this fails, you may need repair!

Run but will not cut

Are you sure you have Andis A5 or did you mean Oster A5 Clipper, if this clipper is A5 Clipper, You need to check the Lever for wear, The front of the Lever show wear on both side, Like white color and is not squad this Lever is worn. Need to replace. This Lever moves the blade side to side fully. if the Lever is worn the blade will not move fully side to side and the cutter blade the smaller blade will stay in the middle with hardly no travel to side to side and will not cut the hair even if you purchase new blades. Also I would like to mention if the Oster Locking Hinge is worn out and don't have the require tension to hold the blade in place the blade will not cut. How do you test the Oster Hinge on a Oster A5 Clipper,
(1) first close the hinge, in close potion with your finger nail try to open the Hinge, if the hinge slightly open or opens loose the Hinge is worn. if the Hinge is good it will not open or move and your nail may just brake your nail.
Many of my customers run into this type of problem, and the problem can be solve easily by checking these parts first.
One more item I would mention here if replace the A5 Hinge make sure you get the A5 Hinge not the Oster 76 Hinge they are driferrent, The A5 Hinge has on the back two wire's sticking out that fit on the Oster Latch for the A5 Hinge, the Oster 76 Hinge would not have these wire's on the back. I recommend replacing the Latch when you replace the Hinge. I hope this helps any body that have a A5 Oster clipper or A Oster 76 Clipper.

Cleaning Oster 78004-011 Clippers and blades

OK compressed air is perfect for your clipper, thats all it needs! Take the filters off (at the bottome of the clipper, either side of the cable) periodically and clear from excess fur. Replace. As far as the blades are concerened, Brush the excess furr off with a toothbrush or similar. Slide the cutter (smaller of the 2 blades) to one side (past half way but not all the way off!) clean exposed teeth on both blades with a bit of oil and a toothbrush, push the cutter the other way and repeat. Blade wash's tend to rust the blades, you need a big pot of WD-40. Get a 5 litre tub from the internet, only thing is there, postage will be a killer. I work for a clipper repair, blade sharpening company and we have it delivered by the truckload! Do what you do with the blade wash, but do it in WD-40. Wipe off excess afterwards and dont soak the clipper in any liquid because of electrc shock.
Thats all you can do! When your blades go blunt or clipper needs service repair: www.sheareaseltd.com If I have helped you please tell your friends about our website! Thank you!
