Adjustment lever on side of clipper will not adjust

I bought an Oster Golden A5 new in a pet store in 2000. It did not work reliably out of the box- needed constant tweaking of the blade tension screws. It sat on a shelf for 15 years while I paid for many grooming sessions. Over the years I would try to get it to work; in 2015, I bought a generic brand #5 blade from a beauty supply, and it refuses to cut no matter what I do. Today, I spent 40 bucks on an Andis #10 and low and behold it cuts like a dream. Went back to the store and bought a #5 FC and it also cuts like a dream. So all my troubles were caused by 2 blades that were defective right out of the box...

Be sure to oil the blade and install it with the clipper running so that it seats correctly

Send it back for refund. Nothing in a clipper should overheat like that. Buy the best, buy Wahl..Oster make kitchen small appliances. Wow, I just Googled these and they are $210! I received this trimmer free when purchasing another corded trimmer. It worked until the battery died. I found the charger’s 2200 mfd capacitor needed replacement . Once replaced the charger output was 3.3 volts at 145 Ma. The charger says it should be 1.3 volts. The higher voltage will overheat the battery and shorten its life. The other problem was the switch in the trimmer not making contact. I opened the unit cleaned the copper on the circuit board and bent the spring terminals on the switch. The trimmer works. The dog died but we have four more!

It is unlikely you will find a wiring diagram for an old model. It should be a simple wiring where the plug wires split and one goes to a switch and then from the switch a wire goes to the motor. The other plug wire goes to the motor. The unit probably doesn't have a polarized plug, so no need to know which side of the plug wire goes to the switch and which goes to the motor.

You should not need to grease the clipper before use as that is done in the factory. You DO need to oil the blades before each as stated in your user manual.

Best bet...check e bay. Got one for my Remington cordless..very old...used charger but works for me

LOVE IT! Finally after having 5 shavers around the house that do not cut my cats hair, I found this! My cat is a longhair cat that has very thin fur and this works very well for her. I used to spend a lot of money at the vets for them to sedate and shave her. Now I have been using this and it works so good. If you are looking for a shaver that works, this would be the best!
