Tv turns off randomly but turns on after 35 seconds.

My Panasonic projection TV model# PT-52LCX16 doesn't stay on. When i turn on the TV it randomly turns off for 35 seconds and turns back on repeatedly. Green light blinks 35 times before turning back on.

The TV three years old. But I had it for 2 years. Whats wierd is that sometimes but rarely the Tv could stay on for hours but eventually turn off again.

  • reghelson Jun 11, 2009

Never replaced the lamp yet. I hope i dont have to buy a lamp every year or two. Seems like a bad investment. I was told by my uncle it might be the power supply also. Just wanna see if anyone knows exactly before I buy the wrong replacement part.

I'm having this same issue with the tv turning off and the grren light flashing 35 times before it turns back on. Did you end up fixing it or finding out the problem? If so what needs to be fixed?

Trying to replace lamp in HDTV and having trouble. Does not function correctly after putting in new bulb. Boots up and then visuals go black and the green power light keeps flashing. Help?

Panasonic DLP TV Bulbs

Make sure its an original Osram or Philips bulb inside the housing. If its a cheap lamp it will act this way. If it is an original lamp, then you may have a power supply issue. It shouldn't affect your TV but you may want to try resetting the lamp timer by following the instructions that came with the lamp.

TY-LA1001 Timer reset

While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the number 0 button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds.

How to reset the hour meter on a panasonic pt-52lcx16

Panasonic Projection TV Lamp Timer Reset
Your lamp will probably last a lot longer than the TV thinks it should. This procedure will reset the lamp timer so you don't have to look at that annoying message every time you turn your tv on. Remember that the "lamp" indicator light on the lower left of the set will stay on until the lamp is actually replaced. I had to buy a replacement lamp to get this information, could not find it anywhere for these model numbers.
Press the volume down button on the projection display and hold down the zero button on the remote control at the same time for more than 5 seconds. When the reset procedure is complete, a message will display that the lamp timer was reset to zero.
This procedure will work for Panasonic models: PT-52LCX66 , PT-56LCX66 , PT-61LCX66 , PT-52LCX16 , PT-56LCX16 , PT-61LCX16
