We plug in the cord to the tablet then plug into an outlet and the tablet shows no sign of taking a charge even left plugged in for a lengthy time period. We have tried another cord and the same result. our tablet is a 7 inch HD Quad Core Tablet.
Try to charge your tablet pc with your laptop or desktop pc.
if it will show the charging then your charger may be out of order.
if it will not charge with your laptop or desktop then your tablet's charging circuit not working.

I would try using another charger and plug and power cord to see if it will charge again and another power outlet too. If it is still not charging then the battery needs to be replaced.
Try another power adapter for a USB device. If this is the type unit you are referring to, it looks like it has a power/charging adapter as well as the USB cord? Those are pretty much standard with a few exceptions. The cord rarely fails but a power adapter sometimes fails.
eBay shows a lot of available replacements.
Also, make sure the electrical outlet is live. Do other things plugged into the outlet work?
And, if the power adapter has a fuse in it (can't tell from these listings), make sure it is not blown.
I suppose this is some cheap android tablet. If the power button does not turn the tablet on, try plugging in different chargers and cables. Perhaps the battery is not charged. If the tablet has been dead for awhile it might take awhile to charge the device up enough to turn the screen on. So, try cleaning the charge connector with some alcohol and check it for damage and allow port to dry before plugging in any power. Just experiment by moving the power cord around and perhaps the connector is loose pr something. I suggest leaving the cord plugged in even for days or hours because it can take different devices a long time to charge if they are flat.
I had the same problem! It's not your charger, it's the tablet.
Most likely, the soddering came apart on the inside of the tablet, on the part that connects the charging port with some important wires. You can either take the cover off and fix it, but if it's like mine, it'll just come apart again. This is what i did: plug in the tablet, and cross the cord from the right across the screen, to the left, and make sure it's tight. I use a binder clip to make sure it stays and charges.
