Clockworkmod recovery I'm trying for weeks to find an explanation on the web how to flash ClockworkMod 6.4 using ROM Manager onto my Samsung Galaxy S4 (SGH-I-337) running Android 4.3, build MK2. The Unlockr explains the process, but after booting into recovery it is still the stock recovery not CWM. Another page described a process using loki, but even when downloading the correct file based on their description, the loki installer V1.1 stops witha message telling I'm using the wrong version for my device. ROM Manager developer states is is required to find an install a CWM compatible kernel, saying it would be available on the xda developer forum, but here nothing to find, not even a comment about the process. Wrote message to the developers e.g. unfortunately nobody answers and the process still keeps being a mystery.

In order to flash your Android phone (for example Sony Ericsson Xperia, HTC desire, Samsung Galaxy etc.) with a custom ROM you need to follow these steps. <b><u>PLEASE read the notes at the bottom first before going through these steps.</u></b><br /> <br /> <ol> <li>First of all you need to "<b>root</b>" your phone.<br />Rooting your phone enables special applications to get higher level access to the phone. Rooting the phone is a simple procedure. Simply download<span><b>Paul's Visionary+ tool </b>(<a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=447543&d=1290501865">click here</a>) and send this APK file to your phone using bluetooth or USB cable. Run this file on the mobile and install it. When the installation is complete run it and select "temproot now" option from the list. When the process is complete select "attempt permroot now" option. Restart your phone and you are done.<br /><img src="wiqi546.png" /><br /></span></li> <li>Install <b>ROM Manager</b>.<br />Open Android Manager and install ROM Manager.<br /><img src="wiqi546_1.jpg" /><br /><span></span></li> <li><span>Install </span><span><b>ClockWorkMod Recovery</b>.<br />Simply run the ROM Manager and it will ask you to install </span><span>ClockWorkMod Recovery. Click yes and it will be install. During the installation you may get a prompt for super user permission. Make sure you tap allow. (<i>If ROM Manager does not ask you to install </i></span><i><span>ClockWorkMod Recovery you can simply tap on "Flash </span><span>ClockWorkMod Recovery" option.)</span></i></li> <li><span>Download and copy <b>Custom ROM</b> to micro-SD card.<br />Now you need to find and download a Custom ROM which you want to install on your Android device. To do this simplest way is to Google it. For example if i want to look for a Custom ROM for HTC Desire HD i will Google "HTC Desire HD Custom ROM".<br />A few recommended websites to find Custom ROMs are:<br /><b><a href="http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php">XDA-Developers</a><br /></b></span><b><a href="http://www.cyanogenmod.com/">CyanogenMod</a><br /><a href="http://www.miuiandroid.com/">MIUI</a></b><br /><span>When you are done downloading the ROM you will have a zip file. Simply copy this file anywhere in the micro-SD card of your phone by connecting a USB cable and putting phone in USB storage mode.</span></li> <li><span>Reboot in </span><span><b>ClockWorkMod Recovery</b>.<br />Simply in the ROM Manager tap on "Reboot into Recovery" option. If you again get the super user prompt make sure you allow it.<br /><img src="wiqi546_0.jpg" /><br /></span></li> <li><span><b>Wipe the Phone</b> clean.<br />Select the option "wipe data/factory reset".<br /></span></li> <li><span><b>Install Custom ROM</b>.<br />Select the option "install zip from sdcard".
