usually if the drive and pc has same type for example SATA drive to sata pc its must copatible, was you check that slot?/other suggestion is was your drive driver installed properly??may you use win 7 64bit and your driver is for win7 32bit, if like that reinstall your drive driver that compatible with win7 64 bit

first of all check that ur laptop is not infected by viruses,because sometimes it happens due to virus...
make sure that the DVD you r trying to run is scratch free....ans is clean...

I have the same problem and after two months (I'm a total beginner), I finally stumbled on this site.. check it out and if you can help me I would appreciate it. I downloaded the update, but I can't figure out what to do with it to make it work. I hope it helps.

right click on my computer-->select device manager-->check cd/dvd rom there. If it is disabled there, please enable.If this doesn't help,contact me.
