About a month ago I was able to connect my laptop to my TV via HDMI cable and would switch automatically over. Now nothing happens when I plug in the HDMI cord. I checked the displays settings and it does not even detect an external device to connect to. The only option it gives me is to connect via VGA or with my graphics card. I tried installing the drivers again but nothing happens.
Old DV5-2125 (circa 2010 carbon dated, IIRC)
its bad? the port. or. do tests. tests solve problems.
try it on 2 TV's yet, be smart.
is this windows 7 (or dead XP./vista) or w10, i cant guess that.
did you use a real HP driver, from HP and not virus sites? (endless)
HDMI is just in front of eSata port. do not mix those. (working in dark)
try new cable.?
load the real drivers seen here?
only these work. shipped windows 7, is it still W7 or w8 or w10
last year did you upgrade to W10, gee, be like question1.
this pc had intel or amd drivers, new. only the correct one works.
learn too that underlaying drivers can fail killing this too.
hint load them all , and do not mess with FLASHING BIOS !!
this PC is like 2 PCs, totally different, getting the correct driver
is not easy,. HP can guide you, but you picked fixha, why here>

here is real HP, ask them how to match drivers.
sometime even the full service tag must be told to them to get a match up, (For sure Intel, AMD , classed mobo variances.)

SOURCE: "No signal detected" when LCD connected with DVI-D Cable
Thank you for providing your configuration details.
You have failed to specify wheather or not your LCD Display is under Warrenty.
Perhaps these simple trouble shooting procedures will get the job done.
1. use the DVI to VGA adaptor that came with your card
Plug in a regular CRT monitor to the Primary Display Output Port using the DVI to VGA adaptor
( either port can be designated as the primary by you )
I like to use the Port nearest to the motherboard as the Primary
2. plug in the your LCD monitor on Secondary Display port using your DVI cable
At this point you should be able to see your desktop on the Primary CRT Display
3. Go to the display properties and use the Nvidia Dual Display Setup Wizard
set both desktops to CLONED at a resolution of 1024x768 and set the refresh to 60Hz
which is default for most LCD displays , some have higher refresh rates , consult your user manuel
If the display resolution and refresh are set incorrectly for your CRT or LCD you will see
Signal Out of Range ( if the display has the ability to display that error message )
At this stage both displays should be showing a Windows Desktop
If you now see your desktop on both displays , you can now put the LCD on the Primary Port
No Signal Detected ( this means the display device is not receiving a signal )
If your LCD display is still displaying the error message
"No Signal Detected" after performing the trouble shooting proceedures
You may need to read the user manuel about how to enable DVI signal input.
If you are certan you have done everything correctly but still see only "No Signal Detected"
Your LCD Display may need replacement

SOURCE: Samsung TV can't detect connection to laptop
Make sure you set the laptop to display at a resolution the TV can display, it seems best to start with 1024x768 then work up.
If you are using a VGA - HDMI converter it is possible you will not get a picture.
You should be able to set the laptop to 1024 x 768, plug it into the TV, select PC input on the TV remote, and the picture should appear.
If not, then check you have the monitor output on the laptop switched on, test it with another monitor to be sure.
If all the above still fails to work, and you've checked the cable the TV has a fault.
I hope this helps.
SOURCE: my laptop do not detect my sound card
It appears that you have installed the wrong sound driver.
You need to download the drivers from the Compaq/HP WEB support/download page. Make sure you select your model laptop and the XP or Vista Windows version of the drivers you require.
Use this link to download the drivers

SOURCE: can't connect to external monitor or to Sony
You need to:
- Connect everything with the laptop turned off
- Boot the laptop
- Use the Fn key plus F8 or F9 (I'm trying from a small picture of the keyboard!) to cycle through the external display options.
Testimonial: "Thanks very much. It was the F5 key in my case but solved the problem"

I had this same problem. Took me a while but I figured it out. Right click on desktop and select "Personalize". Next click on "Display". You should see "connect to a projector" on the left. Select it then select duplicate. Its that simple.
