try this
put a pen scribble on the back of you document you are trying to scan. Now scan it
Do you see the scribble on the resultant copy ?
If you answered yes then turn the document over when scanning it .
No problem, you can solve this problem very easily : Whenever you scan a document directly to your e-mail in a PDF format then printer scans it using its own property and only scans the document without any editing in the font or characters.
But the output i.e. the scanned document in pdf shows the same text using its own properties. That font is selected by pdf and not by the hp software.You can open the scanned pdf file and manually change the font size. Or else
The best way that I will suggest you :
- First scan the documetn in a pdf file or any format on your computer instead of directly on e-mail. Because when you scan it to your computer printer will scan the document directly to computer and in this way after scanning you can open and see the document. You can make sure if it is scanned properly or not, however when you scan it to e-mail there are chances when we dont verify if the document is scanned properly or not. If there is any hardware issue or any other error then it will scan half page or a blank page....we wont be able to verify it. - Also if it is an official document which is half scanned or has some problem in it will give a bad impact on the receiver which is not good for professionals. - By scanning on computer you can verify the document, can make required changes and will be able to send the document in a proper way. It is going to take few seconds but results will be fruitful....try it..!!! I do the same way and there is not much difference
You should setup the scan resolution to a lot less. Scanned images can take a lot of space it scanned at high resolution and with many colors. If it is a document, you can set it to scan black and white or gray and instead of the default resolution (300dpi) you should try scanning at 75dpi or 100dpi. Those settings can reduce a scanned image to few ks instead of 10s of megs.
The average mail systems can't handle mail messages larger than 10Mb.
I would also suggest playing with the scanner to get the best results before trying to mail the scanned documents.
In summary:
* Very unintuitive, convoluted and unpleasant to use (same on Win2K as
XP)
- sometimes the SW hangs during scan and needs a reboot
- sometimes the SW crashes with a dialogue "try reinstalling HP
software", and needs a reboot
- sometimes it scans and after conversion to pdf Advantages: I cannot see any advantages with this product Disadvantages: Software is convoluted and unreliable, paper
jams are difficult to clear
function showHideReviewText( sType ) {
if ( sType == 'more' ) {
document.getElementById( 'review_text_full' ).style.display = 'block';
document.getElementById( 'review_text_short' ).style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById( 'review_title_link' ).onclick = function() {
showHideReviewText('less');
};
} else {
document.getElementById( 'review_text_full' ).style.display = 'none';
document.getElementById( 'review_text_short' ).style.display = 'block';
document.getElementById( 'review_title_link' ).onclick = function() {
showHideReviewText('more');
};
}
}
...with a dialogue "try reinstalling HP software", and needs a
reboot
- sometimes it scans and after conversion to pdf every page is blank
- very occasionally it scans a document properly
*If the sheet-feeder jams is says to refer to the documentation to
clear it, which doesn't exist. There is no way to clear the jam except
to pull hard & hope. No levers to release it like one would expect.
*Frequently has error ... ...cycled to work again.
Everything has to be started by pressing a button on an application
called "HP Director". There are 4 apps started from this:
1) Scan Picture
2) Scan Document
3) Make Copies
4) View & Print
also Help
also Settings (which are used in conjunction with settings found in (1)
and (2)!)
- Each application has to be exited to return to "HP Director" its a worst scanner and prone to jamming problem
if you scan a document it will be a photograph editing a document is done in a text application like word or notepad the two are completely different things i use text bridge or Paperport Professional it will read the text off of the scanner bed and convert to a text document it may make some errors but will still save much time rewriting the document add the saved text to word and change the font and spacing to try to duplicate the original document save it then edit it to your hearts desire
Try scanning a bigger document. Use a blank page big as the scan capacity and scan the blank page.
If for example you are using an a3 scanner, scan a blank A3 page.
When scanning blank page set resolution to an high value, so that you does not lose pixels.
Check scan result, and explore the whole document using zoom to see if the line is still present on the test scan of the blank page.
If there is still the line, then it is either a scanner dirty, probably inside glass, or a dafective sensor on CCD sensor array.
If there is no line, then the problem is usually depending on the software.
In that case uninstall the software and install it again.
If that is not enough to fix the problem, try uninstalling software, doing a system restore to a date before the problem started , and then installing software again.
If the line is horizontal , that is usually a loss of power on the high voltage to lamp. Try reinstalling software first, if that does not fix the problem , and line is horizontal, then it is fault mentioned above. Horizontal lines at the end of a document may also be caused by faulty scanner control board, or scanner going out of memory.
Absent additional information like scanner, pc, size of document being scanned etc., try to reduce the resolution of the document being scanned. Large documents at high resolution require a lot of disk space, and room to cache the scan until complete. Low disk space can be an issue as well.
