LG microwave intermittently runs

I would try troubleshooting the "defrost circuit". The behavior sounds like the microwave is cooking in the defrost mode, where it actively cooks then stops allowing the food to rotate and the heat to spread then actively cooking again.

I cannot stop the DEMO

Demo Mode The Demo Mode is ideal for learning how to use the microwave oven. When set, functions can be entered without actually turning on the magnetron. The microwave oven light will come on, the fan will run, the countdown will run very quickly in the display, and the turntable will rotate. To Turn On/Off: The microwave oven and Timer must be off. Touch and hold TIMER SET/OFF for 5 seconds until 1 tone sounds. Repeat to turn off.

Our Microwave keeps running and won't stop. It is

The fan you hear is probably the magnetron cooling fan and that, and the light, are probably both controlled by the electronics board that controls everything else. You might inquire online at Maytag or the Sears parts department to determine the cost of a replacement board but I suspect it will either not be available at all or cost 3/4 of a new microwave.

My microwave stops goes dead after running for 2 minutes

It may be that the magnetron is overheating. The main causes:

- blocked air vents
- blocked air outlet or duct (if an over the range type)
- clogged grease filters needing to be cleaned
- clogged charcoal filter needing to be replaced
- failed internal cooling fan
- failing magnetron

Depending on the model, it may have a thermostat on the magnetron so that the power is killed if it overheats, then it comes back on when it cools down.

We have a sound clip of what a microwave should sound like when the cooling fan and high voltage section are operating here.

Please listen to that and compare it to yours. You may hear that your cooling fan is not running.

When I say internal cooling fan, I do not mean the hood vent exhaust fan which you can turn on and off manually.

I'm instead talking about the internal fan which comes on automatically whenever you microwave.

It is vital that the cooling fan runs, or the turntable and stirrer won't work, and magnetron will soon be destroyed.

If instead the microwave starts microwaving then it scrambles and then comes back up as if someone unplugged it for a couple of seconds and you can set the clock and start again, then you have a magnetron that is leaky.

Once you listen to that and check your vents, filters, etc., let us know what you find so we can take it from there.

Daewoo over the range microwave model KOT-21OUB just stopped working for no apparent reason. Lights and fans still work. Not heating food. Worked for one dish then the next nothing.

how old is the machine, microwave ovens have a tendancy to do the ridiculous for no possible reason. a check of the main power fuse within the unit might help. it is a large fuse 10A> that supplies the transformers

MICROWAVE NOT WORKING PROPERLY

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

Let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Otherwise, it sounds like a bad door switch or door switch mount.
