JVC Everio Camcorder-cannot make movie file

I have a JVC Everio Hard Disk Camcorder - #GZ-MG130U. I have tried to Capture Video into Roxio Media Creator 10 in my Windows XP Pro PC and also tried it on my Windows Vista Business PC and neither one recognizes this camera. I have even tried using "Import from digital video camera" in Windows Movie Maker in both Operating Systems and that doesn't work either - just does not recognize the camera.

Has anybody else tried this Roxio software or Movie Maker with either of the above O/S's?

My PC recognizes the camera when I turn it on, but the software cannot.

OR, does anybody suggest any other software that will allow me to bring in my movie from this video camera, then also let me edit my movie into scenes, similar to Windows Movie Maker?

I also want to make titles and put in transitions, etc.

Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!
Jan

I use Sony Vegas 8 Movie Studio...a great piece of software...and use the Storm codec pack to view .mod files that the JVC puts out:

http://www.softpedia.com/progDownload/Storm-Codec-Download-20053.html

scroll down to download mirror for STORM Codecs, not AVS.

Good luck.

Lost disk, new computer, how do I download from my JVC GZ-MG130U?

Have you tried the cord from your camera to your computer's usb port? It should be recognized by the computer, allowing you to transfer your videos to a folder. The camera has a built in memory, so you have to use a cord to transfer the movies and pics.

I have a JVC gz-mg130u HD camcorder that willnot work in Vista

The short answer is that unless JVC have released a firmware upgrade to this model, currently its not support for use on vista.

You can try here though, for some upgrade info,
