Cycling the external switch on the GMS series will not help you. That switch is for A/C only. At the unit found inside the house, remove the front cover. If there is a door switch, tape it closed. Now if the thermostat is calling for heat, the unit will cycle as you mentioned. When the unit does not start, check for a blinking light on the circuit board. After three unsuccessful tries, the light will blink a code (2 blinks then a pause up to 9 blinks than a pause). Make a note of how many blinks you see. On the reverse side of the access panel you will find a diagnostic schematic. It should tell you a fault code corresponding with your blinking. This will give you a starting point where to look. If the codes are not found there, check inside your owner's manual. Or you can call Goodman at 713-861-250.

Get back to us with those codes and maybe we can help you further.

SOURCE: No heat, trouble shooting light has continious flash.

There is a vacuum sensor on most units tied from the exhaust gas fan to the sensor. Does the unit try to start? If the unit's exhaust fails to pull the switch it will turn off after about 30-45 sec after starting. "IT" thinks it's not exhausting and stops to keep from overheating. Do you have this exhaust fan and rubber hose to sensor? Can you see if that fan is turning on start?

SOURCE: my goodman gmt090-4 shuts off about 10 sec. after burners ignite

Clean the sensor with a piece of fine sand paper. It gets a coating on it after a few years of service. I had my cleaned for $160, it took five minutes.

SOURCE: my goodman gas furnace is not kicking on. the

If you are not getting any codes from the board, then the furnace is not getting a call for heat from the thermostat. A wire may have come off, the thermostat not properly wired, or a break in the stat wire. On a call for heat, you should have 24vac between W and C on the circuit board. This will let you know if you are getting a call for heat all the way back to the furnace.

Pilot light goes out after thermostat kicks off

If it's a direct spark ignition type heater maybe that's how it's designed to.work .When called for heat pilot open allowing gas then ignitor spark and ignite the pilot then gas valve open and allow gas through burner then unit fires off .
Once temp is met pilot valve closes and pilot out .

Pilot light goes out when burners kick on burnham

Get a toothbrush and clean the **** off the pilot, could be partially blocked. Change the safety thermocouple. Check the plenum for cracks. A cracked heat exchanger can cause this.

Exhaust fan turns on for a few min, then shuts down. No heat

There is a gas valve that controls the burner and has a flame sensor that keeps it from supplying gas when there's no flame. There's a chance that the unit overheated and caused a heat overload protector to fail, which was a safety feature to keep the unit from becoming dangerous. You may need to replace that overload protector. The pilot light may have just went out, and you'll need to light it again and make sure the gas valve is set to on. The flame sensor may be dirty and thinking the pilot is not on. The flame sensor will be a wire or probe mounted close to the pilot light. The gas valve may have failed and need to be replaced. You probably can't cause a lot of damage by just looking around in there and cleaning the flame sensor, but you're dealing with fire here, and you should leave anything like taking the gas line apart to a professional.

Water wizard 10P pilot light keeps going out

If the thermocoupler is defective the gas to everything is shut off. The coupler is the bulb that sits ib the pilot flame If it doesn't heat up it will sense no pilot and shut the gas off. They don't cost much and are easy to change. Good Luck, Ned

After a few minutes of burner heating the water, gas shuts off.

A couple of things to check:

If possible, remove the pilot gas assembly and clean the gas jet and thermocouple - they can get carboned up and stop working properly. Make sure the pilot flame and deflector is aimed properly and making the thermocouple glow red hot. If the problem persists, you may want to replace the thermocouple and also check the propane regulator.

Blower works but no heat

If in fact you have the above listed furnace, you do not have a pilot but electronic ignition. You will need to remove the front cover on the furnace, tape down the door safety switch and then have someone help you by turning up your thermostat to a very high setting. Watch and listen inside the furnace. There should be some blinking going on at the control board followed by a small blower fan starting up. Then after 10-15 seconds there should be a click followed by an orange glow viewed thru the viewing window to the burner section. In a few seconds the gas valve should click and the burners will ignite. There is a safety switch that will sense flame and then keep the gas going to the burners. If it does not sense it, it will shut it off within 10 seconds. If all is well so far, your blower will turn on in about 90 seconds after flame. There is a diagnostic code chart on the back side of the access door if you get an error code (blinking) on the control board.

Always check little things like air filter, condensate drain and broken or loose wires.
