Washing machine Tricity Bendix AW 1260 W, about 10 years old. No problems till yesterday, when a few seconds after starting a program, a sharp crack was heard - possibly a bit like the noise of a fuse blowing. The program did NOT appear to stop at that point, but my wife switched the machine off anyway, fearing possible safety issues. Subsequent attempts to start the machine have been unsuccessful. What happens now is:- Switch power on at mains. Set program, all the relevant indicator lights function normally. Start/pause light flashes, to show machine is waiting for Start button to be pressed. Press Start, and instead of the wash program beginning, the door light gives a repeating four flashes. According to the manual, this can mean that the door is open, or (presumably in this case) that there's a fault with the machine.
Either your door actuator is broken or the door switch itself. look at the door and see if the latch(actuator) is broken or loose. If not order a door switch. It can be changed easy if you remove the retainer from the bellows and loosen it from the front of machine.
Hope that helps
Thank you, Don, but the door isn't the problem here. On this machine, if the door's not shut properly, the door warning light flashes when you're trying to set the program. What's happening here, ever since that loud crack I mentioned, is that the program setting stage progresses normally. Once you press the start button, THEN the door light flashes, because it has a secondary role as a malfunction indicator. Perhaps there's some kind of fuse inside the machine which could have blown for some reason? Or maybe a coil in the pump or drum motor?

SOURCE: my tricity bendix washing machine flashing and beeping end light
Hi, we had something similar happen just before christmas. Our machine seemed to finish a cycle and started making beeping noise with end light flashing. Then when I switched it back on to do another load it just started beeping with end light flashing no matter what cycle was selected. Engineer has been out and advised that it is a fault with the motherboard so has ordered another one. Hope this is of some help. Machine was tricity bendix aw1400w.

Even if the door does lock it may not be sensing it, hense the flashing lid lock light.

Hey Don, I haven't been able to find anything at all obviously wrong with the machine, and no valid excuse for it having made the loud cracking sound my wife heard. So there really isn't any valid excuse for me dismissing your door switch diagnosis so hastily either; and I'm sorry to have done so. I've ordered another one as you suggested, so that I can try it. I'll report back. Thanks again, James
