hi,
GPS is present but not enabled on these phones when they come from the store. In order to activate the GPS it depends on your cell provider. Currently sprint has a update that will give you windows mobile 6.1 and GPS, but Verizon does not have a official update for their phones yet
Since the phone worked before the visibility issue is unlikely to be the cause. Try plugging your TomTom into your computer. In the my tomtom software, select manage my TomTom. Now find and select the item about mobile phone settings and delete it. That should fix the problem when you next ask the TomTom to set up a connection with your phone.
Garmin will work with ANY windows mobile device with built in GPS and or a bluetooth receiver. But you have to have the correct software there are 2 versions both will install but only one will work with your model phone for older model phones use version 4.10 or lower for newer model phones use version 5.0 or higher.
Let windows manage your GPS ports do not try to set it manually. If you have a GPS fix option...go out side where you can get a satellite fix easily...launch your GPS fix program...thenlaunch Garmin. It should connect and you will have to do this only once. I know from experience and I've use this on a T-Mobile Dash with a bluetooh adapter with no issues. I'd try a different receiver preferably any PharosGPS receiver.
