SOURCE: dell inspiron 1501 won't boot

Caps lock flashing indicates faulty memory - it's a POST (Power On Self Test) before BIOS executes. When memory is removed it should indicate "no memory". Carefully re-insert the RAM memory module, check the tiny contacts inside the connector on dust. Then try again.

If there are 2 memory banks (1 one the back, the other under keyboard) remove one RAM memory module.

If capslock keeps on flashing test it with another RAM module.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS defaults? In doing so, it will force IDE re-detection and often resolve vague boot issues.

Hard drive has bad sectors. Before your replace your hard drive when getting this error, try this- Boot from a Windows XP CD and choose Repair at the first prompt to get the recovery console. Type "chkdsk c: /p/r" at the prompt. Repeat until there are no errors found. Exit and reboot. It worked for me.

Dell inspiron 9100 laptop computer boots up but

Your motherboard is not the problem. Try this. When you are on your main desktop right click your mouse. Click properties, click on settings. This will show you your monitor settings. Make sure that you have 32 bit clicked on quality. Change your screen resolution so your numbers are higher. Just change it to the resolution that you want. If this does not correct this go to this link to update your video driver http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=INS_PNT_P4_9100&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=
Just copy and paste. This will take you to the page for your laptop. Just select your operation system. Hope this helps.

Inspiron 1520 error code 0f00:137B or dvdrw_4

Hi,

this is either a faulty dvd drive error message, or you have missing system files on the hard-drive.
The computer is asking you for the ( Media-Software Disk ) that is missing, and is required to start the computer.
Try putting your restore cd, or operating system in the dvd drive when booting the computer.
