Did it quit cooking? If it smells like tar then a transformer has gone kaput.and may not be worth repair.

My panasonic NN-T945SF starts, runs for a few seconds and then shuts off. And I smell rubber burning.

It may be a loose connection in the wiring between the inverter, magnetron, and/or control board, or maybe one of those components has failed.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced in inverters, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

Purchased a panasonic NN-H965 microwave and yesterday when using it, it started making the following noise: upon starting, the unit works for 3 seconds with funny noises and then it stops. There used to be...

See if this describes what's happening:
  • Put in time, push start and unit runs for 2 seconds, relay clicks, unit goes off. Cook time on display goes off and clock time comes back. Bad upper interlock switch and charred connector
If so, see http://www.microwavedisplay.com/safety.txt , http://www.microwavedisplay.com/disassembly.txt and http://www.microwavedisplay.com/doorsw.txt

Otherwise, if the digital programmer circuit / controller does not get a feedback signal from the inverter for a period of 3 seconds, the controller will stop the cook cycle.

Stopped heating, shuts off before time expires

My panasonic microwave model # NN-S540BFW stops after 4 seconds after you hit the start button and cuts off on its own. What is wrong with my microwave?

Sparks, noise and burning smell

If it is burning and arcing at the antenna, it is probably arcing in the wave guide area. Probably will have to replace unit. I have had some success by removing the antenna, sanding and repainting the burnt areas of the cavity and sanding off any burnt marks on the antenna. Need to look at top of mag to see if also arcing there too.

if you are talking about the transformer then it will need replacing , because it is about to quit on you and then the microwave will not work at all
are you going to do the repair yourself? or are you going to need to take it to a qualified service shop?

When I press the start button it smells like it is burning

if the is a convection model then the covection coill will smell that way if there is a geese build up and should be ok to use. however you should only smell that if you are using the convection mode.

Replace the h.v. capacitor (the silver can mounted in back under the magnatron) and the h.v. diode and it will be fine.

Panasonic NN-T694SF smoke, shuts itself off

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad transfotmer.

Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

I would recommend that you contact your nearest Panasonic-authorized servicer. You can find one here:
