I just took this exact model apart piece by piece
on power supply heat sink towards back there are 3 semiconductors
1 bridge and 2 high current transistors the right smaller one shorted taking also 2 pcb resistors fried next to it
solution replace these components try again
drain or short hv before touching anything
I bought another Panasonic microwave oven yesterday. (problem solved)

In most cases, this is a problem with the inverter or a bad transfotmer.
Due to the lethal voltages used and produced, I do not recommend that an inexperienced person work on these.

It quit cooking and sparked, then smelled burn

Did it quit cooking? If it smells like tar then a transformer has gone kaput.and may not be worth repair.
