The furnace blows air but code says furnace in lockout due to unable to ignite flame. What do I do?
Possibilities are many, no spark due to ng ignitor, if draft induced , fan not coing on or has blocked flue, if unit is condensing type might have condensate in drian line, if standing pilot type thermo couple bad so not sensing pilot. so you see not enough info of what type unit you have to help narrow down possibilities
Change igniter

Another part that you might want to check is the flame sensor. It is a very good chance that this is the problem, the stat calls for heat, the induced draft motor (little motor on from of furnace), ignitor comes on, the main burner fires, just for a second or two, the burner shuts down, the main blower motor defaults to blower on!
If this is the issue;
Then this is what you do to fix it, kill power to the furnace, look where the burners are, to the left side there is a little wire, usually yellow or orange running to what kinda looks like a spark plug, one screw should be holding it to the burner bracket. take it out, at the end of the white porcelain is a small metal rod sticking out, it probably has a slight bend in it.
take some steel wool, or sand paper and clean the rod till is is nice and shiny, NOTE: when you take it out, it won't look really dirty, maybe just like a pencil lead,,,,it is dirty!
Just use the sandpaper and clean the rod till it looks like metal, "do not sand the white porcilen". Put the part back in and turn the power back on and run the furnace as usual.
90 % chance that this will fix your problem.
The rod get a build-up on it from the sulfur that is added to the gas, and has a hard time passing the milli-volt signal back to the furnace computer, which is passed from the ignitor, through the flame, to the sensor! This way the computer knows that all of the burners are firing and it is safe to run!
Please take time to come back and rate me, or contact me with any further questions!
Have a warm day :)
Sincerely,
Paul Gibson
NOTE!!
Do not touch the ignitor! The part that gets bright and hot! Even when it is cold, the oil on your fingers will cause it to burn out.

I had this problem before. Now I use WD-40 to clean the flame sensor as part of yearly maintenance..

Hello, it sounds like your Furnace might be shutting off due to your high limit switch.A limit switch will open when the furnace overheats due to low airflow, . check air filter, clean blower wheel, and check to make sure the blower wheel is running at proper speed and not dragging sometimes cause by a weak capacitor. Anything that restricts airflow will cause a limit switch to open.

Usually a lockout code means it tryed so many times and then it locks out or stops. First, when a furnace is locked out you have to kill the power to the furnace to reset the lockout. I don't know this furnace but there are manual resets around the burner called flame rollout switches that have buttons in the middle that have to be pushed back in. Also the power vent has to come on when the furnace gets the signal from the thermostat. This is proven by a flow switch with a rubber hose on it. The next step is a 30 sec. purge, then the igniter glows or sparks and then the main burner comes on.
The other switches are hi limit on the front wall of the heat exchanger. That might get you started. If you have anymore questions [email protected]
