I tried to connect my laptop to Smart TV, but TV is showing blank and has a message below that it has no video signal, the connection method I want is thru HDMI cable, VGA cable is ok, I dont know if the Lenovo IdeaPad Z470 needs additional HDMI driver to make it work. Please help..thank you
X2, RTM yet, seem not.
yes HDMI must be setup on the PC first
no OS stated by OP, making this 10x harder.
most PCs need 2 things, for this to work (laptop)
Device manager must be showing no problems with the VIDEO chip for sure HDMI ports.
number 2 is learn what hot KEY turns on the external display,
that is in the manual.
I go to Lenovo, fixya is not them.
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-z-series-laptops/ideapad-z470/documentation
I clicked DOCUMENTATION there. (tab)
then read about HDMI.
simple no?
page 18
fn + F3.
see that key, that switches the video ports.
not using the key,
not having drivers loaded, right, say you upgraded the OS and didn't ask lenovo first or get the drivers first from Lenovo?
no OS stated.
no OS history, untouched from new or upgraded the OS 3 times now since new. we cant guess that and is SUPER IMPORTANT.
HDMI is the best method as VGA is low density video. You may have to set up the laptop to send data output to the HDMI/VGA port (Out to the TV). Your manual should spell out the procedures to change from Computer Internal Video to Video OUT.
it does, show that, as all laptop manuals do.
if not a newer laptop that have AUTO mode turned on, by default. and that is in the manual too.
the HDMI is better but that depends on source media resolution.
1920x1080p (TV)
Radeon Dual HD 6570M (PC has this chip)
the chip can do:
DVI: 2560 x 1600 / DisplayPort: 2560 x 1600 / VGA: 2048 x 1536 !
as you can see VGA with top quality cable.
double shield and short, can do 1080P
very well... most cables VGA folks have are junk. (with lots of crosstalk)
even hdmi cables, many are very poor grade.
I did not test to see I the chip driver, is any good on VGA. that takes me lots of extra work and some have upgrades.

Try just pressing "Fn" and "F7" keys until the output switches to your TV.

Hi anuj_shahi24,
Based on your situation, I suggest trying the following steps:
1. Download the updated camera driver here.
2. Go to camerasection and make sure you select the Windows XP or Vistaversion of the drivers that matches your Windows operating system.
3. Afterdownloading install the driver then restart your computer.
For theUSB concern,
1. Gointo Device Manager and uninstall all of the USB related devices.
2. Shut down and restart the computer. Windows will redetect and reload
the USB drivers which may resolve the issues.
3. If the problem persists then I suspect that you may have a physical
(hardware) problem with the USB ports themselves and therefore you
should have a hardware repair technician examine the computer.
Hope ithelps.Thanksfor using Fixya

Hi er_gauravpra,
I see you want to use an HDMI connection for your Video from your Lenovo Y510.
I have checked information about the Y510 and it does not have the Technology of HDMI on the Y510 system of Lenovo, Y510 system only have the VGA port where in you can use a VGA cable to get video output to an External Monitor.
Regarding the issue about HDMI I have not seen any Converters yet that can be bought from anywhere to convert VGA to HDMI and I believe that will not be possible since VGA is a lower type of video output than what an HDMI can.
I do apologize but the Y510 systems does not have the HDMI technology to on it.
I hope this clarifies everything about your Query.
Have a nice day
