Sounds to me like dirt in gas tank dirty or plugged filter screen on fuel line inside gas tank or plugged pinched or obstucted fuel line . also check for the following pin hole in primer bulb bad spark plug dirty or rusty coil or flywheel magnet.or simply dirty or missadjusted carb if i can be of further assistance let me know i would start with the fuel hoses and make sure they are in good shape first ...do the easiest and cheapest things first good luck hope this gets you up and running good mrdmburns@cableone,net

Homelite weed trimmer bogs down and smothers out quits running
This could be a number of things. Clogged air filter/fuel filter/carburetor/fuel tank lid breather hole, cracked fuel line or primer bulb, or clogged spark arrestor in muffler. Here's some links that will help to change the bulb, fuel cap, fuel lines, rebuild carb, replace spark arrestor, and troubleshoot.

I have a McCulloch I385L trimmer that wont stay running
Try changing the gas to oil mix. You have too much oil in gas. Put more gas in to oil ratio. 25:1 should work. 25 parts oil to 1 liter of gas.
50:1, 50 parts oil to 1 gallon of gas. 4 liters to 1 gallon.

My homelite gas trimmer wont stay running seems to want to choke itself out,it will stay running off and on if you keep messing with the choke knob wont idle unless i set the adjustment screw high
Sounds like the carburetor needs a cleaning and rebuild. Make sure that you replace the diaphrams also while there.

sounds like a carb problem You will have to take the carb off and strip it down to parts clean out all the ports with a good cleaner I use brake clean reassemble and reset the High speed and low speed jets at 1.5 turns out then adjust from there
