I had the same problem. My URC MX-780 remote with fresh batteries just alternately flashed between the logo screens. It turned out that our fresh batteries weren't so fresh. Fortunately I have a multi-meter so was able to see that three of the four batteries were actually much less than full power. So I went through the 24pack of Duracells and discovered that about 75% of them were the same; low power. I found four that were close to full power and the remote was back up and running! I'm now making a claim with Duracell as the package came with a 10yr storage guarantee. The batteries were stamped best before MAR2027.
I'm having the same problem. Screen on remote is flashing URC and MX-780 and I can't get it to stop. The device is frozen. I tried taking out the batteries and putting them back in, but it didn't help.
