SOURCE: not cooling, compressor kicks in for 3 seconds then back out

No the PTC relay on the compressor is bad. Need to replace it.

First be sure to unplug frig. Remove the cardboard cover that covers most backs of the frig units. Remove the plastic cover that is on the side of compressor. It is held on with a metal clip. Now you should be able to see the relay pry the relay straight off. note the wiring and position of relay. Only three prongs on compressor. Go to a parts house for appliance's and with your make and model number should be able to get a new one. Let me know if you need any more help. ken

SOURCE: Haier frig., model HNSE05, continues

Hi,there

Most times this is a bad cold control, but there are other things to check for. Make sure the condenser fan is working and the coils are not covered with dust. A separated heat exchanger ( small capillary tubing soldered to the large suction line ) can separate from one another and make the fridge run too long. - tape tubing back together. A poor working evaporator fan motor could also make the fridge run too long and freeze - replace the fan motor. An inefficient compressor or refrigeration system could make the fridge run too long and freeze - have a service tech check this out. A misaligned control settings, make sure the air damper and cold control have not been bumped and are out of normal settings. Stuck open air diffusers or air dampers are becoming more and more common for allowing too much air to be blown into the fresh food section and freezing things. On all frost free fridge's the freezer temp air is blown into the fresh food section, if you have "easy" to freeze items ( eggs, veggies in water, etc ) in front of or under where the freezer temp air comes out, they could freeze - store them in a different spot. Doors not closing properly making the fridge run too long is something else to check for.

Hope this help out....

Am I suppose to put water into the Haier Standing Portable Air Conditioner?

Most air conditioners need water removed, not added. They act as dehumidifiers as they change the air temperature. What model air conditioner do you have? The Haier HPRD12XH5 has a blinking red LED with a triangle symbol to indicate the unit is flooded. Air conditioners can also fail if there is a coolant leak or the room is too cool. If the removed water freezes in the air conditioner, it can damage the fan and cause the motor to overheat.

The air cooling systems that need water added are "swamp coolers". That's the term I learned for the old-fashioned fan + ice/water cooling systems that work well in low-humidity environments. They'll make the area feel hotter in high humidity conditions.

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with the model of your unit for further information.

The thermostat won't blow heat anymore

It sounds like either a fuse for blower motor or wires to it. Or blower motor may have just quit. Depending on the year..make..and model.. could be vacuum or electrically controlled. Check fuses first!!!!Also. Check coolant level aswell!!!! Sometimes low coolant doesnt allow heat to blow through the vents. Just cold. If you are low on coolant. Refill it when vehicle is cooled down after not driving. Check after 2 hours of driving. If level has changed. Check under oil cap for milky consistency. Check for visible leaks on ground. Hope this helps get you started

The cooling fan on my 2001 ford escort SE will not work normally

Check the coolant temperature with the car stopped. At idle with the hood up keep the thermometer in the coolant. Confirm if the coolant is not overheating but the engine is!!

Run the A/C keeping the thermometer in the coolant and allow the fan to kick on.

If with the A/C on the engine doesn't overheat then it confirms that the low speed on the fan motor is not working. Read the description of the Taurus where the low speed is used for normal operation when temperature is required but the high speed is activated when the A/C is on. The circuit is simple.

In your case the low speed has to be activated for the A/C to go into the high speed. The fact that the high speed is working and low speed is not indicates the low speed of the fan is defective.

Other problems such as the thermostat or plugged cooling system(radiator clogged) could be the root problem!

Hope this helps?
