I have a UT10947D Homelite chainsaw that uses excessive bar oil. When I use it oil slings everywhere and drips steadily out the clutch cover. I tried clearing the lines and checked for cracked or loose fittings. Should I change the oil pump? One tank of gas to one tank of oil don't fit this one. More like one tank of gas and three tanks of oil.

Check that you are using chain bar oil and not engine oil as that is the main reason for excessive oil usage
make sure that there is the small restriction at the exit point
if that is missing , then that will be your problem

SOURCE: chainsaw is using way to much bar oil

there should be an adjusting screw usually at the front of the saw, on most saws. usually located on the lower front. the screw puts tension, or less tension controlling the flow of oil. also if that did not help then you might have a broken oil line or it might be diconnected all together.

SOURCE: my homelite chainsaw model# ut10520 has aoil leak

I input your model number and found 3 possible matches, "42cc/46cc Chain Saw UT-10520; SUPER 2 Chain Saw UT-10520 or SUPER 2 Chain Saw UT-10520-A".
I opened the first "Ref # 3" on "Figure A" I suspect is what you say is leaking. It is very inexpensive and available. I would order one and inspect it once recieved to determine an installation method. It does not appear overly difficult without the part in hand. Good Luck.

How can I adjust the oil flow to the bar of chainsaw?

Look-up the UT-43103 IPL. There is no provision to adjust the oil flow. Suggest checking the oil lines for loose or broken areas; also could replace the oil pump. These are very inexpensive parts. here is a link to the parts list and source for the parts.

Unit runs great. I beleive I am getting too much bar oil from the chainsaw. There is bar oil dripping from under the cover where the bar connects to the unit. Is there an adjustment for this? I have...

There is no control on how much oil is sent to the chain.
You should be using about a tank of oil to a tank of Gas
Things to check Are you using Chain and bar oil or regular oil
Chain and bar oil is thicker and has additives to make the oil stickier. regular oil is thinner and tends to run out of the saw when you are not using it.
If you are using correct oil and using to much sounds like the oil pump needs to be replaced

Excessive oil from the chain oiler. oil resevoir is empty and fuel is still 3/4 full. Saw is two weeks old. Oil sprays off the bar.

What kind of oil did you put in there?? The bar and chain oil is so thick, i can't see it slinging anywhere, you must have used 2 stroke in there. It's OK, That is all I use in my Husky, but it doesn't sling off. I don't know if you have a part missing or what, but there is a little damper right under the chain guard. Check it out, hope this helps.

Chainsaw question guide bar installation

These fit my Pioneer, The bar goes between them; the flared portions go toward the engine and clutch cover respectively (away from the bar).

cc66712.jpg
At first glance they appear the same, they are not. 430892 has a slot cut that aligns with the oil slot of the saw case. 430893 has no oil slot and fits against the clutch cover. There are some extra parts shown, please ignore these.

Oil is leaking and burning when chainsaw is on

Hello Jimmy;
On an electric I cannot visualize anything getting hot enough to burn oli except the bar and chain. I am hesitant to get 2 deep into any repair, I fear it may be used to negate your warrenty. Try The first part of this and reply (below) about oil seepage with bar removed please. Is the model number a ZR10926?
Oil System Plugged:
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar), if equipped with a sprocket nose ensure it rotates easily at least one complete revolution. Clean the saw oiler hole and channel. Insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out. Pay attention to the screen or filter on the free end (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up (oozes down side of saw). If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Work your way through the linkage (use IPL to identify components and locations) cleaning and replacing any defective parts as you go. Carefully check the hoses for cracks especially at bends and connections. If equipped with an oil pump it is usually behind the clutch (clutch is a left handed thread). Please make extensive notes & some digital pictures will help during reassembly.
Reply below with the result of 1.
Please see your manual for bar and chain installation.

I just received a Recon unit of the Homelite model ZR10580 chain saw. Is there a bar oiler adjustment on the model ZR10580? In my opinion the oil delivered is excessive - oil drips from the bar.

Once you find and open the IPL. If it has an oiler adjustment there will be an oiler adjustment screw listed. CW is usually less oil, make small adjustments of no more than ¼ turn. I suggest you contact them and check your Operator's Manual before making any adjustment. HTH
