Panasonic DMR - HW100ebk.......... with both coax and HDMI cables connected and unit in standby, my TV picture is perfect. When I switch the recorder to on, TV picture breaks up then fails. If I pull the HDMI cable out of the TV, picture returns to normal [with recorder still on] I've changed the HDMI cable and connected the recorder into a different TV [with different coax and HDMI] and I get the same result. It looks loke the HDMI port on the recorder is interfering with the coax signal - is this possible ? Is there a fix ? thanks Al
So you have looped the coaxial through the Panasonic to the TV and have a HDMI from the Panasonic to the TV, right. When you turn on the DMR select the appropriate HDMI connection with the TV remote and you will be OK.

If you can get some of the stations without the box (often the case for those who subscribe to digital cable or movie channels), then one setup is to split the raw cable and feed the box and the TV, then have the box feed the VCR and hook up the VCR composite video and line level audio outputs to the TV. The VCR tuner would always be set to the VHF frequency your cable box RF output is on, usually ch. 2, 3 or 4. This setup allows PIP to work, with the TV tuner limited to unscrambled analog stations, and it also allows you to tape anything coming through the box, while watching unscrambled analog stations on the TV. However, it requires the VCR to be on and the TV set to the external video input to simply watch what is coming through the cable box. There are other ways to set this up with more flexibility using splitters and A/B switches, or you can look for a special switch box that handles the job. The above assumes your TV has composite video and line level audio inputs. The only way to have full flexibility to watch any scrambled or unscrambled station at the same time as taping a scrambled station is to have 2 cable boxes. The only way to have your VCR control the cable box and record different programs by switching the box by itself is to have a VCR with a cable box controller, also known as a cable "mouse". put a tape in the vcr & press play ,if the picture still does not appear it is most likely that you have faulty cable/s(that is of course providing you have selected the vcr mode on the tv ie.rf/av)

The cable should be connected to the antenna in jack of the VCR. The out to tv jack should then be connected to the antenna jack of the tv. When the VCR is in "vcr" mode (tv/vcr button) you should see it when the TV is tuned to the output channel of the VCR (usually ch3 or ch4).

Hi.. have your solve the problem?
To change channel, hold down MENU button in the remote control for 5 seconds or more, the VCR display will come up. Enter the desired channel numberby channel button. Press MENU button to finish setting. Re tune your TV to the new RF channel..

Your VCR has to be on the same channel as the switch on the back of you cable box.
