My pentax smart head water pump 1 hp, 110v, cuts on and off if my tap is half way opened, if the tap is fully opened the pump will run until the tap is turned off but does not stay on for the tap that is furthest from the pump whether halfway or fully opened and also turns on when no water is being used whats the problem.
There's not enough water running into the pump this is why its cutting out , hope this helps

Your hose size is to small. Use a 2in black plastic line out to the lake. Inspect your foot valve, and
take your pump apart to see if you may have a pebble stuck in it, and remove the inner workings
and clean. Contaminates build up inside and need to be flushed out. Remember to replace the
gasket. Tighten all your hose clamps. Once your ready to start, spray shaving cream on your
fittings to see if your sucking air. I've been through it all and my pump works fine.

With no leaks in line and assuming the jet is not embedded in debris at bottom of well, try priming the pump again and getting all the air out.

hi i have a pentax water pump the smart head, it works very good .one day the pump did not come on when i turn the pipe on so i take off the switch i put it back on the pump came on water was flowing as normal when time to turn the pipe off the pump will not cut off so i switch it back off and call an electrician he check it and he said i need to change the circuit board in the pump so he did now the started to work only on the lower pipe but it takeing long to come on and cut off.the upper pipe when turn on the pump not coming on i open all the union to bleed make sure on air in the line but still having the same problem can this be the head it self need changing?
