If u have an orange light, try holding down the power button for 15 seconds to reset. Light should turn blue shortly after that.

I get no image or sound on the screen even though the dvd seems to be playing

Sounds like you changed the input. Were you using the tv remote or the actual blue ray remote? make sure your tv is on the proper channel, that you have the correct input selected. i.e. HDMI-1 for example.

Input menu will not disappear

  • This happens because a part in your remote is holding the input button down find what is and find a way for it to stop doing that.

What channel does the tv have to be on to play a dvd

it doesnt mater what channel the tv is on, find the source or input button on the remote. when you press source button a list of input devices should display on the screen, the source you want should be VIDEO but it all depends on what input the player is connected. With the player on as you scroll through each of the items listed on the source menu no mater what input the device is connectedthe dvd player welcome menu will appear on the screen.if this doesnt work check to make sure the RCA cord is connected to video out(yellow)and audio out(white and red) on the player then on the tv there will be several input options any ony should work as long as it is an input port but ideally you want to use the one marked video/DVD in.

I just got this tv and when I power on the sony welcome screen comes on and says SONY but then all black?

does the menu come up? I will presume you have something connected to the input the set is currently on but check to see if a DVD etc will work when connected to one or the rear inputs.

No picture on this TV. Sound is OK

Hi! Welcome to Fixya!

If you are unable to view video on your television set, the issue may be that the TV's video input selection does not match.

The TV input source must match how the equipment for example DVD is connected to the TV. Every TV is different in the way that the ports are configured on the back of the TV and the menus are presented on the TV screen; however, there are some basic similarities between them.
lor04_0.gif

To correct the issue, use the TV's remote control and change the video input selection. Many newer TVs have an auto-detection system and will automatically detect that something is connected to the various ports on the back of the television. However, some TVs have to be configured manually.
Some common names of the button on the TV remote are:
  • Video Source
  • Video Input
  • TV/VID
Locate the video input menu for their specific TV. Below is an example of the video input menu of a TV.
lor04_1.gif

This example indicates check boxes next to the items that the TV is detecting. Be advised that this menu must match the location on the back of TV where video components are connected.
You may also check if all cables are properly connected.

Thank you.
Keep me posted. :)

My playstation 3 is hooked up but the tv screen is fuzzy even the menue screen for it won't come on how can I tell if its on tv or hdmi

Hi,

Welcome to Fixya. If the screen is Fuzzy it only means that your not on the right Input of the TV. Use the Remote of the tv look for Source, Input or HDMI button and change the input to HDMI.

Thanks for using Fixya.

Off air antenna hook up

You probably have to set the tv to run on the input jacks your antenna is plugged in to. In other words these newer tv's have 2 or 3 inputs and they only run on the input it is set on, if not the right one you must change the setting. On mine there is a button next to the on/off button on the set which is inputs, keep pressing that button and it cycles through inputs till you get the right one. When tv first comes on it flashes the name of the current input on the screen--think they all do that. If input is hdmi, it refers to the hdmi socket, if composit (I think) then it refers to the rca jacks that are red, white, yellow, may be more than one of either. In this way you could have cable on one input, a video player on another, and cable on still another by switching desired input. I use a UHF antenna but it didn't work till I got the right input and then searched for stations studying the menu for station setup, have to set up the stations first, it will configure settings for each station, and have it do that before you can expect to find and receive stations. With correct input you should get a blue screen or something with printing if input is right, click your menu button and will see the menu and then find where to configure stations setup, otherwise it is totally black and nothing happens, nothing responds, that's the wrong input.
