Testimonial: "Thank you. Bulb voltage is actually whay I was looking for but I did not specifically ask for this.:-) Perhaps a 7333 bulb is a universal #."

Solder tip is worn out need to replace, how do I remove the old one weller model W-TCP

The barrel to the soldering iron has a nut on it and the nut unscrews and the whole barrel comes off. The tip then comes out of the barrel.

Is the weller 8200 comparable to the "Old Weller

Hello, your Weller 8200 soldering gun is rated at 140 or 160/100 watts. While the junior was about 70 watts. Go to this web site for parts: www.e-sonic.com/aboutus/cat/S/soldering%206.pdf GB...stewbison

It will not heat up, maybe tip needs to be cleaned, if so how? I lost the manual. Thank you..

I am assuming that you installed a new tip. Note, the tip ends have to be 3/8 of an inch 90 degree bend so that when you insert the tip leads into the barrels, they go into the small holes in the barrels. Also note, the nuts to tighten the tip into the gun have to be installed onto the tip leads before bending the leads. Now when the tip is installed this way, the nuts tighten and hold the tip in the barrel. This tightening of the nuts allow the tip to have a good electrical connection to the barrels and this is what allows the tip to heat. You actually have an electrical current that passes through the barrels and the tip. It is a very low voltage (around 2) but a very high current. Over time the tip will not heat, this is a sign to either tighten the nuts, or look at the tip to see if it has a break in it. If it has an open, then it is time to change the tip.

Correct replacement bulb (7194 and 194) burns out immediately when trigger is pulled.

Make sure the copper tip is intact and that the tip nuts have been loosened, then re-tightened to make clean contact of the tip to the gun barrels. The lamp is tied directly across the barrels, and when the tip is open circuited, the output voltage goes up enough to burn out the lamp. Hope this helps!

Does not melt solder

The body contains a transformer, which steps your 120AC down to a lower voltage. The lower voltage runs THROUGH the tip, heating it up. Possibility ONE: Transformer is no good, throw it away. TWO: Not enough current is running through tip, because tip is corroded OR those mounting nuts are corroded, loose, OR somebody put new tip into nuts but neglected to bend both legs of new tip 90 degrees. Look at the barrels, you will see little holes in the sides, tip's legs go into those holes.
