I have a Dometic RM2652RBX Refer. The last two trips out it has given us problems. The first trip it worked fine all the way to Texas. We spent 2 weeks in Texas with no problems. We went to the Grand Canyon from there. The refrigerator stopped working at that point. We spent 4 nights in the Grand Canyon area. Left there went to Salt Lake. It started working there. 2nd Trip: Three nights to Challis, ID & Sun Valley. Working fine until we get to Challis and hook up to power. (first night) Stopped working. Did not work again until we get back home and hook up to power. I am getting frustrated.

If the RV was level when it did not function. First you will want to open the rear vent of the fridge on the RV and check for a yellow residue above the burner area. If you do see that, then you will require a replacement cooling unit because the pipe ruptured. It is common in all new RV fridges that the cooling units lets go within 3 to 7 years. SOURCE: We have a 3 way Dometic fridge in our caravan.

Temperature does play a big part in the efficiency of the fridge. The condenser at the back of the fridge needs cool air flow to allow gas vapour to be converted back into a liquid.again.

Testimonial: "Tks Guru, BikerT. To prove that you are right - since the weather/heatwave has gone - a nice cool morning today and I have frozen milk. Cheers, "

Tripping of AC after running good for hours.

CARRIER REQIRES AT LEAST 10 VOLTS OF DC POWER TO RUN THEMOSTAT FUNCTONS YOU ARE HAVEING A PROBLEM WITH YOUR CONVERTER OR INVERTER IF YOU HAVE A MOTOR HOME NOT PRODUCING ENOUGH DC VOLTS TO POWER THEMOSTAT FUNCTION I NOTICED YOU SAID YOU HAVE TWO ACS ON THE COATCH IF YOU HAVE A 3 PIN SOCKET YOU ONLY HAVE 30 AMP SERVICE KEEPING IN MIND YOUR AC REGUIRES 16 AMPS TO START AND 11 TO RUNS SO THAT WOULD BE
AC X 2 22 AMPS RUNING
WATER HEATER AC POWER 7 TO 8AMPS
REFER 10 AMPS ON ELETRIC MAX
CONVERTER DEPENDS ON BATEERY USE BUT I WOULD SAY 6 AMPS NORMAL USE WITH A GOOD DEEP CYCLE INSTALLED ON COATCH
I SEE OVER 40 AMPS WITH OUT ANY TVS OR MICO OR THE ALL IMPORTANT WIFES HAIR DRIER

Circut Breaker trips

  • i have no experience with RV units but if it were in a house i would suspect a bad breaker or a problem with the outlet itself. breakers  only trip when the wiring is gets hot.
  • unless it is a ground fault breaker (usually on the outlet) then this would trip if the flow of electricity is grounded. ground fault breakers do go bad often.
  • i think if the refrigerator itself had a problem then it would be consistent (as far as it is pulling amps anyway). not work fine sometimes and not others.
