Mitsubishi 3000 GT 1995 Australian sold R/H drive speedo only works when I reach about 80 klm then works fine over this speed. Then when I drop below about 80 klm it wavers all over the place. I believe that ther are a couple of sensors that could cause this. Any help would be much appreciated Aussie Derek

no speedo. so it's zero mph all speeds.???
is the odometer dead too. (key fact)
is the CEL lamp glowing driving, yes, then scan it.
these key facts limit the possible wrong BIG TIME (labor)
there are 3 generational changes. they are.: (most cars made)
1: speedo cable gone. (hurah)
2: VSS now drives cluster. in parallely with PCM.
3: VSS now drives PCM and PCM drives cluster.

Hi,

The speedo dial on your cluster is controlled by the Vehicle Speed Sensor.

This sensor is mounted on top of the transmission case.

This condition is either caused by a loose connection (wirig loom) or a faulty sensor (see item # 7 on diagram below).


7. Vehicle speed sensor connector

my car has a high consuption of fuel,i cleaned up the fuel filter,i changed the spark plug,what can i do?please help if u can

This may been an ignition module or a MAF sensor, this car may need to be diagnosed using a OBD I computer code reader to accurately diagnose the problem.

there is a either a engine vacuum problem maybe caused by the oxygen sensor not working properly or your fuel filter needs to be replaced.

It sounds like you have a bad speedo sensor in the transmission. The sensor is usualy not all that expensive, and shouldn't be too hard to replace.

you have to go to a mitsubishi dealer and have them look this information up for you. for security you should have a card that came with the card that has the code on it. check your manual and glovebox to be sure but otherwise a dealers the only solution and they need to see you and the car in person.

speedo went to zero km, indicators in dash work opposite, taco isn't working either.
