Depending on the age of this unit it may have food blocking what is called the "check valve".
on most models it is mounted right on the outlet of the pump housing. one model uses a 4 inch plastic tube style device and is about 1/2 inch on the pump and 1" on the hose. inside of it is where the food items can block the check valve. remove the hose and unscrew the check valve from the pump and see if something is blocking it.
on newer units the check valve is built into the drain hose, if you hose has a 90 degree elbow molded into it where the hose hooks up to the drain pump. once again take the hose off and look inside the hose or try to blow through the hose and see if the hose is clear.
good luck tom

Since water doesn't drain out ,it could be a clogged in the drain line. Often the problem is at the point where the drain line attaches to the garbage disposer or household drain line. You should remove this line and clear it form any debris in the hose or the hose connection. Be sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher again. Let me know if you will need for further assistance. Good luck!

Dishwasher was not draining. I cleaned out everything and now it wont start

I have the same problem with another Kitchenaid model. I've had better results at keeping the water drained by running two back to back water saver cycles than running a full pots and pans cycle.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Dishwasher not draining completely problem usually occurs due to clogged/blocked drain hose-filter assembly or the drain pump not working. First try to clean the drain hose and drain pump filter located inside the front bottom panel for any clogs, then check drain pump operation. Take off the bottom access panel to clean the drain pump filter and hose. If the problem returns after cleaning then it is the drain pump that needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Model 15754 Kenmore built in dishwasher leaking water into basement

take off the bottom panel ....... check for the leak .... could be the fill valve connection ..... motor pump assembly (most liklely) or a drain hose/pump issue....if the DW is noisy as well go shopping ...

Dish Washer retains the water without draining....

the drain pump is fairly easy to replace. it locks into place beside the sump and motor. push tab in and rotate pump to pull out. you will lose water so have a towel handy. inspect drain hose for restrictions or kinks.

Fills, doesn't pump to sprayer, drains on drain only cycle

Sounds like there is still something in the pump. I am 99% certain this unit has a reversable motor.

My dishwasher won't drain

It is possible that it ran thru the entire cycle but was unable to drain teh waste water ( usually the result of a clogged filter screen in the bottom of your dishwasher).. I suggest you either hand bail the water out and look for the drain filter screen or check where the drain hose is hooked up under your sink and possibly into the side of a garbage disposal..That could be clogged up too... Hope that helps...
