Problems with formating samsung e250 micro sd card

I am having Problems with formating samsung mobile E250 micro sd card. Whenever I try to format a card it is giving a error message. Earlier it was working fine but suddenly it has stopped working , so i tried to format the memory card but it did not worked. Can a virus in a computer can have done this when i have connected my mobile to PC. Or can mine memory card could have got damaged. I am using 1 GB Transcend micro SD card.

Please, help!!!!!!! I have a Kingston Micro SD in Samsung D 600. Whenever i click to open it in the phone, it asks me "FORMAT?" and it does not give me any other option, apart from this question. When I press the same button once again, it says "ERROR". Also it has stopped working when I try to connect to my PC, using the Kingston adapter. It does not appear on the screen, my computer can not read it. I have plenty of videos and pictures and I am not able to open them. Please, tell me how to fix it. Thank you, Monique.

ok here's whats happening. my card was working fine. i took it out of my phone and put it in the computer using a SanDisk MobileMate Micro Memory Card Reader. it's worked before. i put it in the computer. i put more music and videos on it. as i said before, i have done this before. i take it out of the card reader, put it back in my phone, and it comes up (when i go to open my memory card option) 'format?' with the options 'yes' and 'no'. i click on the option 'yes' and it comes up with 'error!' and takes me back to the menu. i click on the option 'no' and it takes me back to the menu. i've tried formatting it but it doesn't work. i go to memory status and it says its empty. however when i put it back into the computer all my files on my micro SD card come up as if they were there all along. can someone please tell me how to fix this?

  • Alphonso331 Mar 19, 2009

I have the gravity phone. I bought a 4GB Toshiba sd card witht he adapter. I have a slot on my dell computer to read and load it. After working on this, trying format after formet, I also went to properties and removed the 'read only' check mark. I also made sure that each file was 'shared'...the computer loaded it fine (I used fat32, thinking it would all work) I went on line and downloaded updated software fro card reader (Vista)...now I loaded the card with several pics, video's and music but after doing this and safely installing the card back into the cell phone (powered off of course)...the phone asked me if I wanted to fprmat...I said no and away I went, back to the menu and repeated the same proceedure a couple more times, even turned phone off, removed sd card, turned back on, then off reinstalled card, then back on...NOTHING !!! Nothing is on the card, the cell phone is telling me this but this is not true because I can play it (the disk) through the access slot...
    Anybody have an answer?

Did you try to format the card in the device thru Windows Media Player, or Rhapsody? If so, try formatting it thru My Computer instead. My Computer>Device Name>Right Click and select format. It is most likely NOT a virus if you have only put music on the device. It is most likely a corrupt file, or a database error. Best of Luck.

  • Anonymous Sep 19, 2007

    Try formatting thru Computer Management.

Right Click on My Computer, select Manage. On the right side select Disk management (under storage). On the right side at the top, right click on the device and select format.

    Best of Luck.

I Had the same problem, however it was only the first time. I have a Samsung A711, it came up with a message saying that i needed to reformat it, an so i did, and it came up with a error message.

How to fix: plug it into the computer and right click on the "removable drive" icon then click format. format it normally, now put it back in your phone, and turn the phone off and then back on. now go over to memory usage, it will ask you if you want to reformat, and press "yes" this time it should work.

You will find that most phones except for very new and very expensive only support 2GB expandable memory (ie: Micro SD). They usually don't tell you in the box or manual. 2GB is still pretty good for a phone.

The solution for the problem is quite simple, open up the folder, extract all the folders and files to ur desktop. Then do this, go back into my computer and format it normally, not using quick format. after that just put ur files back on there if u are 100% sure that they are not corrupting the device then wallah it works :) =] i just did it for 2 of my micro sd cards that didnt work properly.

If you have any problem with formatting, just insert the card then switch your phone off then on. am 100% sure it will work

A

I think you can try and format the card from the phone itself. Just access your card through your phone, and there should be an option for you to be able to format your memory card.

A

Anonymous

You just have to change it to mass storage

I had the same problem and I tried everything. I couldn't think of anything else to do so I just turned my phone off and back on again. When I went back to the memory card menu on my phone all the folders that I lost re-appeared. I don't know if it would work on other phones but it's worth a try!

Be careful, if you use the USB cord to plug the phone up make sure that your not formatting the entire phone.

Did the Micro SD card come with the bigger card to plug it into making it a standard size SD card ? If so then you can plug that into a card reader if you have one go into MY Computer, and right click on the drive of the SD card click format.

Those are the only other ways of solving said problem if you can't do so on the phone itself. Also the phone may not accept a memory card of such size.

Formatting micro sd card

i'll make a try:

i) remeber u must have kept any password to micro sd card when the card was in samsung mobile g600 and keeping password to the micro sd card will prevent it from using in other device or even in other mobile phone

ii) so you have remove the password of micro sd card by keeping the card in tsamsung mobile g600 and use the option remove password(the way u kept password or by clicking 'option' when u highlight ur memory card)

4GB micro sd card.

According to what I've read, you can double the original memory, but no more than that, so the max you can have on a Sansa e250 would be 4 GB (2GB internal memory and 2GB external memory). I also read that the micro SD cards holds
music only-no video.
