The problem seems to be a malfunctioning DMD module. Do you still have sound when this haze appears? Are all the other controls such as volume up/down, channel up/down operational?

This unit uses a DLP (digital light processor) chip and if this starts to fail then you will get spots appearing on the screen. The DLP chip will need to be replaced.

This tv is it the DLP projection light engine block main board itself is the problems, not easily to go into the tv itself and replacing the IC chip itself.Must take out many mechanical parts to get u the Light engine block it self.U can replaced IC but somethime the IC chip it replaced, will not solved the problems, because the tv problems now the it is spreading and going on beyond the IC chip itself. If want to keep this tv very exspensive repair,i would reconmend hire a bound qualify tv tech replaced the whole Light projection block itself, but first call Mitsubishi for some kind of deal, they might help with the repair amount cost.

This is something of an urban myth....The "DMD chip" is actually the LCD display IC for the set; yes I have seen some listed on EBAY---still a myth----they are replaced (when a light engine is rebuilt in a space age lab or environment) under exacting conditions----if positioned a micron off in any direction picture will be tilted in some way---this is also not like changing spark plugs in a car, if you have a optical engine issue like spots etc, either get a rebuilt engine from Mitsubishi or buy a new set.
They usually require some parts for old engine (mounting brackets etc) be installed on new or rebuilt engine.
I did see the "chip" for another model listed on ebay today.(100.00 PLUS)
I understand the engine is expensive, I replaced a lot of them when the sets were in warranty---more Mitsubishi than any other brand with Samsung a distant second.
I am sure Mitsubishi does not offer the part for sale--they want to sell a tested rebuilt engine only.
I wish you luck but have little hope you will find a "part" other than the whole engine.
